    Review of: Sweet Thang

It is always fun to stop and take a look inside this bakery. Their cakes and treats look beautiful and delicious. However, I would say they look better than they taste. They are not bad at all, but for the price I expected a bit better. It seems more commercial than homemade.

  • A must for shoe lovers

    Review of: Lori's Shoes

Lori's is probably the best shop in the city for shoes (okay, outside of Nordstrom). They have a great variety of stylish shoes and boots in a range of prices. The smallish store does get pretty crowded on the weekends.

  • Cute stationery store

    Review of: All She Wrote

This stationery store has a decent selection of quality invitations and other stationery items. Many are from Crane. Also has a number of announcement catalogs. Not a huge store, service was not pushy.

  • Good if you need a LOT of paper

    Review of: Johnson Paper

I met with Johnson Paper when I was looking to purchase paper for my business. However, I am a small business and while they claim to be able to help, I think they are geared for large business. It is difficult to order because you need to call for a quote for every item, and sometimes you do not know exactly what you want. They almost have too much!

  • Printer with variety of services

    Rating:

    Review of: D & R Press

This printer was a referral, and I was happy to learn they offer offset, letterpress and thermography printing. They are very responsive to emails. Their prices are a bit high for resale though.

  • Printer with excellent service

    Review of: Accucolor Plus Inc

I was looking for a letterpress printshop and came up AccuColor. The owner was very generous with his time, and gave me a tour and explanation of the process and machinery. You can tell he knows his stuff. He also does offset printing as well. I received beautiful samples, and they were very responsive with a price quote when asked.

    Review of: Scrapbook Source Inc

There does not seem to be a lot of scrapbook stores in the city, so I am happy to have this one. They have a decent assortment of papers and accessories, although I know a number of stores with more in the suburbs. Also they do not have a lot of the tools available to test unless you are taking a class. Prices are a bit above average.

  • Favorite car wash in the area

    Rating:

    Review of: We Wash

With a number of car wash shops opening in the area, I tried this one a bit further away, and it was worth it. If you get there early, the regular wash is only $8. They also have coupons in the local paper. This is a few dollars less than a number of other places. It was less crowded and they did an excellent job in a shorter amount of time. I will continue to go here

  • A good car wash

    Rating:

    Review of: Strictly by Hand

I give this car wash credit for being one of the first in the area, quite a few more have opened recently. They have a good system going on, all of the men there are always working. They have a nice clean waiting room, which was good since there was usually a wait. Only problem was that the attention to detail was not always consistent. One time they would scrape the sticker residue from the inside, the next time I would have to come back to ask someone to wipe the dashboard. Pricier than the new competition.

  • You can get a good art education here

    Rating:

Review of: Illinois Institute of Art at Chicago

This school is definitely a case of "you get out of it what you put into it." I think most applicants are accepted, so there is a wide variety of students. Some are there so they do not have to get a job, and they do very little work, but I found that if you want to get a good education, you will learn a lot. Very flexible schedules, a decent number of "older" students (between 25-30).
