Next time you want something fun and unique - for yourself or a gift, check out Frank & Dunya in Fremont. It is a small gift shop and gallery with a great selection of works by local artists - with a definite emphasis on fun and whimsical.
They usually have a featured artsist or two showing work in the room at the back as well as the selection of art and gifts in the front.
Frank & Dunya is right on Fremont Avenue in the heart of the Fremont neighborhood.

The only time we returned was to insist that they try to fix some of the things that they had made worse instead of better.
They were recommended to me, so maybe we just got them on a bad day. But it was a bad day, indeed.

Threading is a simple form of hair removal that is better for your skin than waxing and I personally think it is less painful.
Why have someone apply hot wax to your skin and then rip it off when you can get the same results with a simple spool of thread and a bit of skill?
Threading is the norm in South Asia, where waxing is generally reserved for really large areas, like legs.
Also, you can do threading even if you are taking antibiotics or any other medications that do too much harm to your skin to allow for waxing. Threading does not lead to any issues with redness, rashes, etc.
Because it requires more skill, and is not commonly taught at US-based beauty schools, it is harder to find people who thread than wax.
I have heard rumors of a fantastic place for threading in Kent, but am not sure which one.
I went to Salon Image in Uptown (base of Queen Anne). She was good. I would go again.

I get my eyebrows threaded by Avi in Uptown at Salon Image. It on Queen Anne Avenue about a block north of the Uptown theater, Blockbuster, Pagliacci's, and Avi's other family business, a restaurant called Roti, which I also recommend. Yummy north Indian food (Her husband runs it). I was dubious when I first tried it, but now it is my favorite north Indian place. But I digress.
As for your question, I find threading to be a lot easier and less painful than plucking. The first time, it is awkward because you have to hold your skin in certain ways so it is taut, but Avi is really good at explaining that and will not assume you already know. It is very simple and easy and Avi is a total joker, so she will keep you laughing. Normally it is very quick, too, although you need to factor in a few minutes for chatting and for Avi's jokes. This is definitely not the factory-like experience you get at some salons that do waxing.
Avi also does hair, henna, and other things you might expect from an Indian beauty salon as well. I have never partaken, but last time I was there, I got there early and she was just finishing with a customer who drives from the Issaquah highlands to get her hair done by Avi becuase she likes her so much. Oh, and only about a third of AvĂ's clients who I have met are Indian. I know some people think an Indian beauty salon is basically for Indians. Anyway, give her a call and give it a try.
You can see my earlier review about threading for more details and a list of other places in the area. I have not tried any others myself, though.
Let us know what you think of the experience.
(Oh, and I just remembered which photo is on this site. Now you know why I don't need Avi to do my hair, this sloth in Brazil can take care of that.)

We have had excellent experiences with Midas in Factoria. They work on most types of cars with most types of problems and have always done well.
In particular, there is nowhere better for electrical issues. We have brought a couple problematic cars to them and they were able to diagnose and repair issues that befuddled everyone else.
