Hi there,
I went to Vegas for my birthday a few years ago and we booked a block of rooms at The Hotel at Mandalay. This is a standalone luxury hotel which has no casino in it.
Rooms are huge with a living room with flat screen TV and a separate bedroom. The cost was about $300/night, but we split that 4 ways.
I'd highly recommend this if your budget permits.
Another great option is the Luxor. Decent price/value balance and easy access to everywhere else.
I've also enjoyed the Mirage.
Cheers,
Rahul
PS: Looks like I may have spent too much time in Vegas...

You'll find what's cool here before you see it splashed across the pages of us magazine.
Enjoy, let me know what you think if you do go.

These are amazing headphones. They have a sound isolating sleeve that blocks out all ambient noise and they loop around your ear and thus are very secure when running. I love these headphones. They have amazing range and the combination of high quality drivers with the sound-isolation means that your music pops like never before.
They are not cheap, but worth it. My only regret is not being able to justify buying the E5's.

I know it's hard to imagine that there are people out there who haven't got an iPod yet but I have to say that the Nano is spectacular. I am a gadget freak and got an original iPod when it first came out. While I liked it a great deal, I didn't use it a ton and was happy to let my ex take it when we parted ways. Had it been a Nano, I think there would have been much more of a battle.
It's form factor and screen make it a joy to use. I carry it everywhere with me. It's so light that you can barely feel it when running but it's got a big screen so it's easy to find "Eye of the Tiger" when you're running up stairs and need that little extra oomph.
Battery life for the 4Gb version is 6-8 hours and it charges quickly. The only complaint that people have is that it scratches easily. This is true, and I handled it with kid-gloves for a while but at the end of the day, good products are meant to be used. There are cases and covers out now that will alleviate this concern.
If I lost mine, I'd buy another one in a second.

Try the morning rolls...
Hi Dora,
When I lived in SF, Tartine was my favorite bakery. They have a great selection of sweet and savory items and I was a regular there on weekend mornings.

Hi Dora,
When I lived in SF, Tartine was my favorite bakery. They have a great selection of sweet and savory items and I was a regular there on weekend mornings.
Some of my favorite items were:
Morning Rolls: Orange cinammon, gooey heavenly delights. Only downside - they run out quickly. These are worth every penny and then some.
Savory Bread Pudding: A great bread pudding full of veggies, mushrooms, eggs, and sausage. Absolutely delicious.
You won't go wrong here.

So good you'll be sad when you're done eating...
Magnolia Bakery in the West Village is a little slice of heaven (pardon the pun) in the heart of Manhattan.

Magnolia Bakery in the West Village is a little slice of heaven (pardon the pun) in the heart of Manhattan.
Cupcakes are amazing - they have a limit of a dozen per customer otherwise they sell out too quickly. This may sound weird but you have to try the banana cream pudding. It doesn't sound all that exciting, but believe me, this is worth trying.
The only downside here is that lines can be long, but they do move quickly.
Enjoy and let me know what you thought.

They also have great pizzas and great happy hour deals. Highly recommended.

Great English Pub...
Cool crowd, lots of singles, decent pool table. Not much to dislike about the George & Dragon. Bartenders are cute and pour a stiff drink.

The crowd is mainly regulars during the week with a decent singles scene on the weekends which some of us appreciate. Fridays and Saturdays also feature great live bands and dancing if that's your bag.
I love a great game of pool and the 50c table is active and the regulars can shoot so bring your A-game.
If you stop in, look for me (minus afro) around the pool table.
Cheers,
Rahul
PS: They have food too...
