Review of: Carolina Coffee & Tea

This is my favorite coffee shop in Greensboro. Forget that S-place - the coffee drinks here are 100000 times better. The coffee is served HOT, not warm, and the staff is super friendly and takes time to get to know the customers. The patio out back is a great place to sit and relax. Plus the shop has some absolutely adorable gifts and shopping items inside - unique and reasonably priced.

    Review of: Salon Blu

Can't say enough good things about Salon Blu. I followed my hairstylist (Neal) to Salon Blu and will continue to go to Salon Blu.

    Review of: Mimi's Cafe

We have been to Mimi's Cafe on several occasions now, and have always had good, fast service and exceptional food. They are very accommodating for children and bring a disposable bib, a small cup of cheerios and a wedge of a fresh orange for the kids. The bonus is that Mimi's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day! Yay!

  • Smoking rules at Bob Evans

    Review of: Bob Evans Farms

Perhaps I am just used to "non smoking" but having a half wall that divides a smoking section from a non-smoking section is enough to make me walk out of a restaurant.

Bob Evans (on Wendover by Costco) has a smoking section and all I could smell while we were inside was the smoke - and we weren't in the smoking section!

The food is decent, the servers were a bit slow and had trouble with our order, but the smoke was enough for me to say I am never going back there. It totally ruined my meal.

    Review of: Ham's Lakeside

We aren't regular customers of Ham's, but we do go every 2-3 months or so.
We went to Ham's Lakeside last week. First, they changed the menu about a month ago (according to our server) and took off the one thing I get every single time (Oriental Chicken Salad). The server kindly offered to see if they had any of the oriental sauce in the kitchen to make it for me....but I declined (who would want to eat something leftover and untouched from a month ago?!).
My husband's burger was not thoroughly cooked - lots of pink in the middle. He specifically asked for it to be well done with no pink, and was assured that all their burgers are cooked and served with no pink.
Our service was terribly slow, the food less than impressive. I do believe that was the last time we will ever go to Ham's.

Review of: Tex & Shirley's Family Restaurant

We visited Tex and Shirleys on a Saturday morning for breakfast. It was our first visit in probably a year. Now I remember why we haven't gone back.

The tables are crammed into the dining room - presumably to maximize their customer space. However, sitting at a table on an angle practically on top of the person at the table adjacent to us, it is not comfortable. The baby's high chair kept getting bumped as staff moved service carts through the aisle.

Have you ever checked out the ceiling? Gross! Their sanitation grade was decent, 97 I think, but the ceiling was disgusting, especially near the vents.

Staff was friendly enough, but not on top of things like refilling water/coffee, bringing ketchup or an extra straw when asked, etc.

The food was decent - but not as exceptional as it is talked up to be.

We won't be returning any time soon.

  • Best breakfast joint in town

Review of: International House Of Pancakes

We like to go out for breakfast at least once a week. IHOP is by far our favorite place to visit. The staff is usually on top of things and the food - you can't beat it! Our favorite is the stuffed french toast. It's delicious! Plus, they have crayons and coloring menus for the kids. Fast service, good food, reasonable prices.

    Review of: Indigo the Salon

I found Indigo several years ago when I moved to Greensboro and was searching for a salon for my "wedding day hair". I have been nothing short of absolutely satisfied with them for every service I have ever had at Indigo. My hair stylist is outstanding - I literally walk in and tell him to do whatever he wants to do, and I am always happy with the result. This is the first time I have found that quality! I've had my nails done, my hair cut and colored, and a massage at Indigo - and although the only thing I do routinely is my hair, I love the luxury of a good mani/pedi or massage. I highly recommend Indigo!
