  • STAY AWAY from cybershops (storefront on pricegrabber)

    Review of: Cybershops

my worst experience ever making online purchases. i found cybershops through pricegrabber.com and purchased a microsoft wireless tilted keyboard & mouse set. they sell new, refurbished, and OEM items so i read the descriptions for the product carefully because i wanted new item only. on the website under product description for this item, it said "BRAND NEW, factory sealed retail box includes ALL accessories, batteries and full manufacturer warranty". so i ordered based on this statement.

the product i received was definitely not brand new. when I peeled off the first layer of seal, I found a second layer underneath that HAD ALREADY BEEN CUT APART! in addition, the components inside the box had been rearranged.

i emailed them and asked for a full refund (without the 15% restocking fee.) they emailed me back and insisted that it was brand new and said that i was accusing them of things that were completely untrue. i do not see how something could be brand new factory sealed if the seal had already been broken! i have never been angrier with a purchase and advise everyone to stay far away!! cybershops = dishonesty and rude customer service

had an interesting experience at this turkish restaurant on the upper west side. the decor is very creative and makes you feel like you are sitting in tents. there are sometimes belly dancers performing on weekend nights. on top of that the food is quite good and not too pricey. but i am a big fan of turkish food.

newish restaurant in the hell's kitchen area serving asian food (mostly chinese). lunch was totally unimpressive although very cheap. there weren't very many customers during lunch time. the decor makes the place look trendier. might be a good place for a drink but maybe should look to other alternatives in the area for eats before dropping your money here.

    Review of: Kitchen Club Inc

i went to the kitchen club to celebrate a friend's birthday. our party was 10+. the waiters told us that we had to order the prix-fixes which worked like this: they brought us maybe 3 different kinds of appetizers but all to share. then everyone got to pick their entrees. and then the dessert was to share too. we each ordered one drink. the bill, plus tips which was already included came out to be $90 each which i thought was totally not worth it. the portions were tiny considering how big our group was.... i don't know... i don't think i would return again. at least not with a big group.

classy, expensive bar in the time warner. i just had to check it out, at least once. didn't think the drinks were all that special but they were expensive. especially comfortable if you sit on the coaches by the windows. i got there quite late (maybe 2am) and it wasn't too crowded which is how i like it. would go back again if i were in the area, but nothing else is around! (except MOBar in the Mandarin Oriental).

    Review of: Bouchon Bakery

le bouchon opened probably just a few weeks ago on the third floor of the time warner. i went for lunch at around 2pm and still had to wait! (just 10 minutes or so). the sandwiches were truly delicious but a bit pricey. desserts in my opinion were only mediocre (but i only tried the chocolate tart.) service was perfect, almost a little overbearing.

it seems like everyone knows that artisanal is famous for its cheese. of course they also have awesome fondue. everything else we tried on the menu was pretty tasty as well. it was pretty packed when we went for dinner on a friday night. better to make a reservation before you go. must visit if you love cheese and fondue!

nothing too special in my opinion. i ordered the ceviche sampler because i am a big fan of ceviches but there was nothing about any of the ceviches in the sampler. in fact, they all tasted a bit off. my entree (some seafood stew) tasted better. i would not return especially for the price but maybe it is because it just wasn't suited to my taste.

trendy japanese restaurant in the meatpacking district serves creative dishes. the waiters will recommend that you pick a few dishes from each page (appetizers, skewers, sushi/sashimi, hot entrees) to share. must order some of the robata-grilled items. the dipping sauces for the grilled items are very special and tasty. on the expensive side but i would visit again if i had the money!

    Review of: Riki

there aren't very many authentic izakayas in the city but Riki is one of the better ones. Riki serves a huge selection of small dishes (cold and hot) at cheap prices in a casual setting. They also have a selection of grilled stuff on skewers. I would not recommend ordering the sushi/sashimi - not that special, you can get better ones elsewhere. you come to Riki for the small plates and skewers.
