  • Tastiest Mexican Food on San Juan

    Review of: Flying Burrito

The Flying Burrito is located a few blocks from the main part of Friday Harbor, near the airport. It is a casual restaurant with a nice variety of lunch and dinner items. Every item I've tried is good, but their OCB (Oregon Country Beef) burger and pork tacos are not to be missed.

If you are in a hurry you can also call your order in ahead of time and pick it up from their "fly through" window.

Their hours vary and are a little funky, so call ahead.

    Review of: Oceanaire Seafood Room

...when there are so many fantastic restaurants with local flavor in Seattle? The food is decent (although over priced), but it's what you would expect from a good Chicago seafood restaurant. Why fly in fish from all over the world when the Northwest is one of the premier seafood regions in thw world? It's an insult to local food quality.

This is one of our favortie spots for lunch or dinner on San Juan Island. They have a fabulous outdoor dining setup in the summer. Their seasonal menus includes fresh local ingredients whenever possible. Don't miss the creative and tasty libations.

Review of: Willard's Pest Control Co & Bird Busters

We recently had a pest (rodents had gotten into the attic) problem and called Willard's based upon a recommendation from a friend. They sent somone out the day we called, patched two very small holes (rats need only a hole the size of a quarter to be able to squeeze in) that had allowed access, set traps, and then followed up with visits for two weeks after. Very professional, prompt and efficient. We would strongly recommend.

Review of: Ebb ‘n' Flow Bistro

My wife and I had lunch here expecting the old Jitterbug. The Jitterbug it's not. The menu looks appealing, but the food is greasy and bland. I'm not sure it'd even be good if you were hungover.

  • Serious Pie = seriously good pizza!

    Review of: Serious Pie

Tom Douglas has another winner on his hands with his new downtown pizza place. We just got take out from here and the pizza is right up there with the best in Seattle (Tutta Bella and Via Tribulani). The inside is cozy with ~8 communal tables and a clear view of the pizza oven. Tasty gourmet pizza selections include sausage and sweet peppers or mushroom and truffle oil. Their pizza sports a slightly thicker crust than Tutta Bella or Via Tribulani. Small details such as a sprinkle of sea salt and quality olive oil really give the pizzas an extra.

Definitely a must try if you are downtown.

  • Better prices than online travel sites for New York City lodging!

    Review of: Bed Of Roses

When searching for good family friendly hotels in New York, we came across a site that listed Bed of Roses as an agency to contact. We worked with Barbara there and have been very impressed with her customer service and prices. For the hotels she works with, she consistently beat the online travel sites with her prices by about 10%! She also handled all interaction with the hotel to arrange for crib, room location, etc.

I will call Barbara first next time we go to New York.

  • Mini Burgers!

Review of: Jolly Roger Taproom (Maritime Pacific)

The Jolly Roger Taproom is located at the north end of the Ballard bridge. It's worth going out of your way to try the mini burgers, or Lil Jollys as they call them. For a little more than $3 you get three miniature burgers along with a choice of several tasty dipping sauces. If you go for the version with cheese and grilled onions they are about $5. I would almost go so far as to say they are the best burger in Seattle.

The Jolly Roger also has fantastic onion rings and good beer.

Review of: Green Man Landscape & Design

Green Man is run by twin brothers Jason and Adam. They are based in Friday Harbor, but serve all of the San Juans. They do all forms of landscaping including stonework. We have used them on several projects and can't say enough about the excellent work they do. On each project their implementation has far surpassed our expectations based upon the design.

They are professional, friendly, and their teams are some of the hardest working you will find.

    Review of: Vinny's

Vinny's is one of our favorite restaurants on San Juan Island. While their food is only pretty good, the ambiance and view make up for what the food lacks. Try for a window seat as the restaurant overlooks Friday Harbor and is great place to spend the evening eating, drinking and watching the ferries go in and out of the harbor.

The menu consists of a variety of Italian dishes and steaks. The staff is very friendly and professional. The restaurant has the seating and noise level to also make it good for groups.
