If you like your journey to be stressful before it's even begun, then Supershuttle is for you. I second Racheline's suggestion that you say your flight is earlier than it actually is, because on a few occasions, I've arrived at the airport in a state of panic that I'm about to miss my flight.
Consider though that if you fly international, they're picking you up 4 hours prior to departure (3 hours for domestic), which should be plenty of time to get you there. But Supershuttle never fails to amaze me in finding the longest way possible to get there, by mapping out the passengers completely opposite of how they should be. So even four hours prior sometimes creates a situation where you're just cutting it too close to check-in.
If you live in Manhattan or Queens, do yourself a favor, take a cab to Penn Station or your nearest LIRR stop, and take the AirTrain instead. In some cases, it'll come out less than Super Shuttle and you'll have cut your journey time in half.

While the Humane Society has many goals on its roster for the betterment of animals, they also provide low-cost veterinary services for all kinds of pets. The people here are obviously passionate about pets and it shows in their handling and care of your pet during exams. I have the utmost confidence in the staff at this facility. The only downside is that it can be tough to get an emergency appointment, so you may have to consider an alternative, such as a private veterinarian.
In addition, if you make an appointment, you will be charged an additional $30 which is non-refundable if you change to a weekday or cancel. But the good thing is that it's considered a donation to help their cause.

Searle is the princess' pick for fashionably trendy clothing in the Upper East Side. Like Intermix or Scoop, this store offers a wide range of looks by just an extensive range of designers, including DVF and Paul & Joe, as well as lesser-known, independent designers. This shop covers you from head to toe, with their shoes and handbags display as well.
But be warned - to acquire one of their lovely items for sale, you will have to max out that credit card. Nothing, except for basic tees and tops, falls in the double digit range here.

Not just because I'm a fan of DKNY clothing, but I know this store is great on its own. Everything is well merchandised and displayed, making it so easy to shop here. Situated on two floors, I'm internally pleased that they don't subscribe to the retail concept of "men's fashion First". This means the common perception that men's clothes should be on the first level of any multi-level store, because they will not go any further for clothing. This store debunks that concept, as shoppers crawl through maze of columns and corners to ensure that they've covered every foot of the store.
And it goes without saying that DKNY is a long-standing brand as far as quality and functionality goes. Their clothes embody New York style and withstand the test of time, both in quality and fashionability. Shopping here, whether dealing with their staff or checking out the goods, is always a pleasant experience for this die-hard shopper.

Sure, it's on the pricey side, but everything else about this shop just works. Despite the small space, it's laid out very well and the clothes are a beautifully eclectic mix of feminine and bohemian. They favor a more colorful spectrum and are curated from a mix of better known and independent designers. The owners are great, as they're very sweet and helpful while you are trying on different styles. A nice environment combined a great selection of product.

This is not a store that you make a destination, but when you walk in, you just get sucked into their aisles of heavily discounted "stuff". "Stuff" could be anything from pots and pans to stationery to personal care products. The stock is an ever-changing flow of brands and types, so what you see today may be gone tomorrow. Not all of it is top-tier stuff, but it's hard not to fall into the thinking of "It's only five bucks, I think I can find a use for it". Sometimes it's junk, and sometimes it's a score
Don't forget to go downstairs, which features home supplies, hardware, and furniture at deeply slashed prices.

The sister bakery of the world-famous Magnolia Bakery, this is the much more relaxed, less complicated half. No waiting in ridiculous lines and dealing with harried staff for the very same treats and nearly the same menu.
I'm not sure why this isn't as heavily trafficked as Magnolia, perhaps it's the location in Midtown East, far from the appeal of the "Village". Or perhaps it's Magnolia's iconic status appointed by its cameos on "Sex and the City" and "Saturday Night Live". Not that I'm complaining - I've transferred to Buttercup with my love of their cupcakes (of course) and their out-of-this-world banana pudding - made up of real bananas, nilla wafers, and the pudding. As someone who remembers being able to sit down in Magnolia with a slice of their cheesecake, before they removed all seating to accommodate the hordes, I'm gladly chilling at Buttercup. There, I'm eating the same cupcake that someone else is enjoying downtown, standing in the freezing cold of Bleecker Street.

This is not my first choice for when I'm in the mood for a snack, but they do have a good bagel. That's about the only thing going for them, as I find their prepared foods to be nothing special and their smoked fish to be (shrug of the shoulders) "eh". It is a very popular place in the neighborhood, so perhaps it's a matter of perspective and mine is only just one. They've added a tossed salad bar along the way, as well as cold cut sandwiches, but I'm not impressed. Since the demise of their awesome pizza bagel, they're not different than any other gourmet deli chain in the city.

This is the perfect little watering hole right in the middle of the proliferation of boutiques and high-end shops in NoLiTa. Situated on a corner with enormous windows, it's an ideal people-watching spot from inside, especially on a perfect spring day.
But if you can't get a seat up front, no worries. They have a fantastic jukebox with a mix of mainstream and less conventional artists, as well as a TV for the sports fans. They also offer a great selection of domestic and imported beer, and while it's been noted they don't serve food, they have no issues if you decide to bring a slice inside from Pomodoro across the street.
The best part about this bar is the motley crew of people who frequent it. It's a typical to see the resident poet falling off 'his' stool up front, a crew of Wall Street Suits loosening their ties, the firemen from the station around the corner, and NYU co-eds all chatting away and socializing with each other all in one room.
