Just on the outskirts of the DC Metro area, just off the Fairfax County Parkway is Burke Lake Park a recreation area operated by the Fairfax Co Park Authority. There are numerous things to do, fishing, miniature train, golf, picnic area, playgrounds and one of the 10 best fitness trails in the nation! We visit to walk around the lake, which is about 5 miles of mostly wooded well maintained trails. The park is quite large - 218-acres.

The Alexandria Pastry Cafe is a high quality Pastry bakery in the Bradley Shopping center on King St. They have a cafe section, but what they excel at is cakes. When my wife and I were looking for wedding cakes we tasted a lot of bad cake. Then we stopped by the cafe and they started our sample by taking retail cake out for us to taste. When we realized that their wedding cakes are the same cake that they sell in there shop we knew we had a good match. The final cake was just as good as what we tasted!

Patuxent Greens Country Club is a nice looking location in Laurel, Maryland. Years ago when my fiancée started looking for locations to hold our wedding we visited many locations. Our goal was to have an outside wedding with only 50 or so people. We found that Patuxent Greens had the beautiful grounds we wanted, a covered deck, and friend staff willing to help our special day go well. In the DC Metro there are numerous historical wedding locations that will cost you an arm and a leg, but if you just need outdoor beauty then consider Patuxent Greens Country Club.

A few years ago our basement flooded and our condo association hired Minkoff Company to do some repairs. The company is very professional, they had many units to do repairs on so they took a little long, but the work product was very good. When we found some problems that we needed fixed on our own bill, they happily did the work and billed us directly. Given the size of the company they are appropriate to do property restoration contract work for homeowners, housing developments, condo associations and commercial businesses.

For service they are very good. It is a good idea to bring in your Honda at least once and wile for oil changes just so you get the recalled items fixed for free. For example I took the The $100,000-a-Year Infopreneur class. It was taught by a knowledgeable person who started off with a "How to get a credit card processing account" years ago before even mail order became big. His class had good information with both how-tos and real life examples.
