I originally went there for a brow wax, but Cyndi the woman who does this service inspected my face and said I should do threading instead. I decided to do it.
Well, it hurt.
But that is not because of the talented Cyndi. While waxing removes hair in one flew swoop, threading hurts because it pulls at each indvidual root of hair. But the results are so much better. No lasting reddness or bumps and most importantly, a great and impressive arch.
Of the times I went I either walked-in and was seen within minutes or called and had an available appointment.
One could miss this little shop on Austin Street, it's tiny with a small facade, but do your best to find it. Oh and it is super inexpensive.

Not that one wants to deal with a medical situation, but if you have too and you have to be scanned, East River Medical Imaging is the place to go. The staff from the receptionist to the doctor are wonderful. Not only do they have top-rated radiologists, but the staff is professional, knowledgeable and extremely confidential.

When you call the salon you are asked, "have you let your eyebrows grow out?", Gee that's why I'm calling! I was told the price and I assumed for the price I would get something remarkable.
That said, I hurried my caterpiller-like brows over and saw Angela.
While the waiting area is beautiful (this is not your mother's Avon) the time spent is minimal and she removed any arch I was developing. I'd rather save my money and go to a no frills nail salon for the same treatment.

Housed in a beautiful building on 92nd Street and Lexington Avenue, you can drop in for a lecture, a class or a date. There are annual events as well as seasonal ones.
You can learn a language, dive into your religion or find a great camp for your little ones. (My son went to camp there!)
I've taken photography and art classes and my husband belonged to their great gym facility.
