My favorite time to visit Flute is after a weeknight Broadway show. I adore their strawberries & cream dessert and always order it along with a glass (or bottle) of bubbly. They have a nice variety of champagnes & sparkling wines. Every once in a while I will stray from my usual path of ordering Schramsberg and try one of the flights --they are in the low $20s and are nice pours of 3 varieties.
I have only been disappointed in Flute once - on a Friday night when the music was just too loud and the heat was on way too high - but it is has not prevented me from going back. Everyone is allowed at least one bad night.

What is a girl to do when her dinner or show in Chelsea is out and she doesn't know where to spend the rest of the evening? Head over to 23rd Street and 10th Avenue to the Half King and enjoy a couple of pints (Irish, English, Belgian). We have ended up here after nights at Chelsea Piers or dinner in the neighborhood. It is usually crowded on weekends, but I am not sure about weeknights. If you have table service late night, 20% will be added to the bill -- don't miss it when looking at the check through your beer goggles.
I have eaten lunch here on outside benches during the summer. Food is good and the price is reasonable. I highly recommend the walnut fudge brownie, although I am not a fan of the vanilla gelato served aside it.

The only treatment you will receive here is that of a self-medicating bar patron. I think Bellevue is a biker bar. Hidden on 9th Avenue in midtown, that is what the decor says to me & the music on the jukebox is far from top 40 hits. I didn't see many bikes outside, but that could have just been the night I popped in. The drinks are cold and on the less-expensive side of the spectrum. The juke churns out old metal and 70s/80s favorites. The bathroom is small and dank. The walls are filled with decoration to feast your eyes on for an entire night of liver ruining fun. Come with friends as it is not much of a socializing place otherwise.

Best bathroom in New York City! Check it out.
I try to get a table with a swing when I make reservation, as I love the idea of eating out on the porch and that is the feeling I get when I am eating in one of the swings here.
Since the finished the expansion of the bar, I miss the piano in the dining room. BRING IT BACK! I know they won't, because the tables are nicely spaced now.
I adore the food here - from fried chicken to catfish. I had tried about 1/2 of the items on the menu and have yet to be disappointed in a dish. Come HUNGREY because portions are large and you might want a cobbler at the end of your meal.

The goods here are expensive - no, overly expensive. I find myself popping in here semi-frequently even though I rarely buy things. Perhaps I just like to look at the merchandise, as it is aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately so much of it is price prohibitive, even when on sale. On occasion, I have purchased a gift here (for a very special child in my life).
The women's lingerie screams luxury. Most of the children's good do as well.

My problem with Agent Provocateur is the price. Considering that the lifespan of a pair of panties is supposed to be 3 months, the daily rate for a pair of underwear is a little too high for me. But for gifts, feel free to buy here!
This British brand is pretty racy and they like to show off some of the best goods in the window display. Spice up your undergarment life with some expensive silk & lace.

You may not find exactly what you are looking for at Daffy's, but you will get a good deal on whatever you find. Prices are SLASHED and a good percentage of the items are designer. I especially like the women's shoe section. I have found some great Cynthia Rowley's there for a fraction of the price of a regular department store.

I love BCBG. Although I usually purchases these clothes at department stores, I recently went into the Madison Avenue store to look at spring dresses (wedding season coming up). I was delighted by my options. Somehow these dresses that look very slim fit the curvy girl that I am. They are high quality and clean nicely.
I never feel out of style in a well-made BCBG dress and my wallet still has some cash left in it after a shopping trip!

I don't buy anything at Bendel's but candles. Odd? Maybe, but I find their clothing to be largely overpriced and not worth looking through such a small selection. The house cashmere is beautiful, but I hate dry cleaning or hand washing anything. Guess I am just lazy.
So, I still come through Bendel's to browse through the goods (esp. handbags, accessories & make-up) and usually end up buying one or more of the candles. They make great hostess gifts and keep their scent for a long time (especially if you buy the little silver candle cover). My favorite is Tuberose.

Michael's Resale Shop is the UES answer to looking good for less. So what if the item you buy is from last season? Chances are it is in fabulous condition and you are getting it for 1/2 the price...
