We moved into this apartment complex nearly two years ago. The surrounding area is beautiful, the people are friendly. And the prices werent that bad...but now that I've been here a while, I can see the move was a bad one.
The apartment is cockroach infested. When we first moved in, we made a list of things that needed fixing...it took them nearly a year, and several complaints, before they ever came to fix any of it. The maintenance people are idiots. They have to come back two or three times before they can fix something properly.
The paint they used in this place sucks, it peels, leaving big ugly splotches on the walls, and they didnt even paint the entire apartment before we moved in.
You cant use the jacuzzi, because kids (and adults) fill it up with bubble bath. Can rarely use the pool itself because the older kids and adults are not careful about the smaller children and they get very rough with their poolside activities. Not to mention the drunk adults that always hang out around the pool, etc.
Plus, there is a known registered child molester in the complex...this was brought to managements attention, and they did nothing at all.
There is a so called "dog run" at these apartments, which is small, it is poorly maintained (when its maintained at all). A tenant, that is tired of all the other dogs messing in there and the owners that dont clean up after their dogs, goes in there like once a week to clean it, because it is so nasty. And it is just as bad a few hours later. THe management will do nothing about it, saying its not their responsibility to maintain it.
Drug use and public drinking run rampant in the dog run area. On more than one occasion, when we took our dog down to the dog run late at night, we would find glass drug vials, etc lying in the dog run, bottles and cans everywhere, etc.
Its hard to get the police to do anything because the management wont do anything about it. And this is such a small town, we dont have our own police or fire departments...we share another cities departments, so it takes longer for them to get here when they are called.
There is no onsite managment. Complaints are filed and pretty much ignored.
And with all these problems...they still think its ok to raise the rent every 6 months.
So all in all, not a very nice place to live.

What can I say? Walmart is always a great place to shop...well usually. Normally I get great service, great prices, well stocked shelves, etc.
Well I was in the market for a cook top/camp site stove. Preferably with two burners. One that wouldn't break my bank, or my back.
This was kind of a last minute deal...we were having a charity chili cookoff, and i needed a cook stove and fast, one that would accomodate two large stock pots, and I had a real set budget of how much I could afford.
I had looked all over Lakeside and El Cajon, without much success. Everywhere I went, it was way out of my price range, and all looked too small to accomodate what I needed.
So, since I had to do some other shopping, I was going to be near the Walmart in Santee, the only Walmart I rarely go to since it hardly ever has the things I need.
This time I lucked out. It had the perfect cook stove, small, compact, great price, easy to find, big enough for exactly what i needed! I guess maybe I better come back to this store a little more often!

I've been a big fixture at a lot of Walmart stores ever since I moved to Southern California back in 2000. What can I say, Walmart itself is a great place to find the best deals without breaking the bank. Friendly, courteous, always willing to help, etc.
All of this is well and good, and the reason I keep coming back. But on a more solemn note, I have a bad review of a portion of Walmart that I dont visit very often.
Here's the scenario:
We knew we needed to buy some tires, so we looked online. Found that Walmart advertised tires for as little as $37.00...and that they were in stock at all stores. We were overjoyed!
So we packed up the family and headed out to theWalmart nearest to us. (mind you this was at 10:00am) My son and I proceeded to go into the regular shopping area of Walmart, whilst my bf went into the auto care area to have them put on 4 new tires.
Well, my bf finally caught up with us nearly 20 minutes later, and told us that it was going to take us 2-3 hours!! If that wasnt bad enough, the guy running the auto shop told my bf that they didnt have the tires at that price (even tho the online ad clearly said they did), the only tire they had was over $60 dollars!!!! Thats nearly double what the online ad claimed. My bf told him to just put on one tire then (since we had one tire that kept going flat for no apparent reason). The auto care guy wasnt too pleased, saying that we had told him we needed 4 tires...my bf told him that if they had honoured the online ad, we would have gotten 4 tires, but not at nearly $70 dollars a pop. On the way out of auto care, my bf noticed that they actually did have a lower priced tire ($45) sitting at the exit to the auto care area, but that tire was not offered to him. Well needless to say I was upset, but figured there must be a huge line or something. So we proceeded to go shopping.
We had lunch there while we waited, and then my bf decided it had been nearly that long so he went back to check on the car.
My bf saw our car sitting there (mind you this is 3 hours later, now nearly 1pm), so figuring it was done, he ushered us up to the check out aisle for us to check out while he went back to the auto care shop to pick up the car. We waited outside for him to drive around and pick us up.
We knew something was wrong when nearly 20 minutes went by and we didnt see him. Finally we hear him yelling at us from the parking lot...so we go down the parking lot to unload...well, my bf was livid.
The guy told him there was 3 cars in front of us, that still had not been done!! My bf used to work for the auto section of Kmart, balancing tires and such, he knows how long it takes. Needless to say, he blew up at the guy and basically told him where he could get off. Apparently they were taking people who werent even in line at all, because the three cars ahead of us, were the same three cars that were ahead of us when we first got in line...
So, suffice it to say we will never go to another Walmart Auto Care again...and this is not the first encounter we have had...but thats another review!

Our truck needed an oil change, and being we can't change it in our parking lot (since the rules stipulate no auto maintenance is to be done in our apartment complex), we figured we would take it to the Auto Care shop at Walmart.
So my little boy and I went in and started shopping while daddy took the truck into the shop. Daddy joined us not long after, saying they would call us on the intercom when the truck was ready.
About an hour later, our name came across the intercom and my bf went back to claim our truck.
My bf was very happy at how knowledgeable and courteous the car care staff were. Well that happiness was about to turn sour, real fast. A couple of days later, we went about cleaning up the truck, and noticed a small puddle of oil under it.
My boyfriend went in and made a call to Walmart, stating that we had just gotten an oil change there, and now we have an oil leak, which we did not have prior to going in to Walmart. The person (supposedly a manager) refused to do anything about it. Didnt want to hear it, claimed they had no knowledge of it, and there was nothing they could do. They could fix the leak but it would cost an arm and a leg to do so. They blamed us, not the neglegence of their own staff.
So, needless to say, we will never use another auto care area of ANY Walmart.

My family loves cars, racing, etc. Many years ago, my fiance owned an AMC Javelin. It broke his heart when he had to part with it. Well, needless to say they are hard to find, and harder to come by...there are very few left out there. At least those that are out there, and available, are usually rusted out wrecks.
We got lucky...earlier this year, my fiance's daughter found out that her classmate was selling her car. Come to find out, she had the exact car my fiance had been pining for...a 72 AMC Javelin...she only wanted $2000 for it!
We went over and took a look at it, the car was great...had a tiny dent in the right rear corner panel, and had a little rust, nothing terminal, and the dash/interior needed some work...but it was not a wreck by any stretch of the imagination.
It's a work in progress, but it is coming along.
Well, we heard about the Monday Nite Car Club. It is a small car club, about 30 members, give or take. Nothing fancy, just a group of folks that love their cars...no limit as to make/model or year of car. Just a place to come if you are a car enthusiast.
We decided to join. And what a blast we have been having. Everyone has basically adopted our son, he loves everyone in the club as well.
We do a lot of charity work, car shows, rod runs, etc.
When we first joined, the chairman was a gentleman named Kenny Place...it was later taken over by George Griffin after Kenny stepped down. It is a very family friendly club...some of the members have basically grown up in the club!
There are lots of different car clubs out there, but so many of them are very strict in their rules, like having to be from a certain year, or a certain model...but this club isnt like that, its very laid back, sure there are a few rules, very few. The main goal is to have fun while being a car enthusiast.

Our son was having his first portrait day at school. Bad thing was, his hair was awful....it was getting longish and shaggy. Definitely not what I wanted for his school portrait.
Being as we were busy running other errands, we had gone into this one strip mall. And that turned out to be a blessing.
We found this little, out of the way barber shop that offered hairstyles for $7. I was a bit hesitant...that seemed to cheap to be any good, but we thought we would take the chance.
So we walked in, the place was virtually empty. There were three barbers, only one of which was working on someone.
They were all very nice and friendly, and they had our son sit up in a booster seat on the big barber chair. He did everything the barber told him to do, how to hold his head etc.
I couldnt believe how much hair they took off his head! But he looked awesome! Best haircut he had ever gotten. The barber he had was faster than any I had seen before!
The barber was very friendly, courteous, and really knew what he was doing.
Everyone has been complimenting him...cant wait to see the portraits!

Best little digital cam out there

Well I...
I was always real leery about digital cameras. I mean you dont get a hard copy the way you do when you use a regular camera. I was very set in my ways and never wanted to switch cameras.
Well I noticed my old advantix camera just didnt cut it anymore, it was old, kind of beat up, and just wasnt working right...it was time to get a new camera.
So, I headed to Walmart. There on display were dozens of cameras, of all shapes and sizes, all different prices. None of which were like my old standby camera. Well, one in particular caught my eye.
The camera is a Vivitar Vivicam 5100. It is small/compact, very inexpensive at only $80...less than $100 even after taxes, and that included a case, batteries, etc. The camera has a nice big viewing screen, lots and lots of options (tho i think thats the biggest downfall for me) ITs not complicated, but there are just too many options to choose from when all i want to be able to do is point and click.
That is what I do for the most part anyways...point and click, and boy, talk about a great product. I get beautiful clear bright pictures, I can delete the ones I dont like, keep the ones I do like, download them onto my computer, send them to family and friends, post them to websites or even print them. Yup, I do still get hard copies!
Even my 5 year old uses it...its that easy! Aim point and shoot...nothing could be simpler.
This would make a great gift or a great stocking stuffer! and you wont be paying an arm and a leg!!
