Monks Pub is somewhat hidden away on Lake Street and Wells. Unless you're really looking for it, you may pass it up.
Their burger menu is extensive and also has a 'true' veggie burger. They have several different burger options with cheese, various toppings, and they all come with a generous side of fries (regular or Cajun) and a large pickle wedge. You also have the choice to have onions either raw or grilled.
The vegetarian burger is not what I was expecting, but still good nonetheless. I was expecting more of a soy burger, but it actually has large pieces of avocado and other veggies inside the burger itself.
The servers are nice and they will take reservations for larger parties. It's always a good idea to get reservations because the place fills up quickly!
You also might want to bring a pair of sunglasses since it's really bright when you step outside after being in the pub for lunch.

I took my car in to the Midas location on Roosevelt Road in Chicago. I needed my brakes repaired as well as a new tire.
I called ahead to make sure they would be able to service my car on a Friday. I dropped my car off (at the time I had requested) and was told I would be called after the estimate was ready.
By 4pm, I still hadn't received an estimate, so I called and was told it would be ready in a half hour. Still no phone call and the shop was to close at 6pm. At 5, I called again, and was given an estimate, but told that my car wouldn't be ready until noon the next day and my tire would be fixed. Fine by me.
My husband and I went to the shop to pick up the car on Saturday. It still wasn't ready. We waited in the shop for 3 more hours before the car was ready, but I was told then that the tire couldn't be fixed.
In the end, my car was fixed, but I had to go to another shop to get a new tire.

The location of the Dark Horse can't be beat! It's located right on Sheffield about a block away from Wrigley Field.
They usually have great drink specials, some limited outdoor seating, and great atmosphere inside. The bar is somewhat small, but what it lacks in space is made up for in character.
They've got several flat screen televisions mounted on the walls all over the place, so you're not ever in a bad spot to watch a game.
The food is pretty good and they have a typical bar menu, but it is slightly overpriced in my opinion. Still, The Dark Horse is a great value overall!

I went to Mario Tricoci on Michigan Avenue on short-notice for a haircut and highlight. I didn't care for my colorist. The highlights were expensive and they were just okay. I've paid much less for much more elsewhere. Not to mention, she wasn't that friendly.
However, I had the most amazing haircut with a stylist named Petronka. I've never paid that much for a haircut, but I will tell you that every penny was worth it! The cut was easy to style and grew out well. If only I could afford her every 6 weeks!

I just read this book for my book club. It wasn't something I would normally choose, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The first 80 or so pages went slowly for me, but it picked up towards the middle and through to the end.
It's an amazing story about relationships in a world so different from what I live.

I went to Dr. Keuer for a dermatology consultation after being referred by my primary care physician. I had been previously recommended to another dermatologist who was horrible.
Dr. Keuer was wonderful! He took the time to listen to my concerns, discussed everything with me without rushing, and gave me several options to consider in my treatment. He was on time and I did not have to wait forever to be seen.
I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Twist on Sheffield in Wrigleyville is a great little place for tapas. It's very small, so it can get crowded quickly. They do have some outdoor seating, but the restaurant is very close to the el, so I'm not sure how quiet it would be to dine outside.
The tapas menu is extensive and delicious, but they do not have the flair that a few of the other Chicago tapas restaurants have. The sangria is good! I would suggest it more for the experienced tapas diner than a first-timer, just because it can be so overwhelming in such a small restaurant.

When I first decided to hire movers in May 2003, I had several friends recommend Golan's Moving in Skokie, IL. All of my friends raved about them and I had a great experience as well.
My fiance and I were combining our previous apartments into a single one, so we technically did 3 moves. They were very accommodating, quick, and handled our belongings very well. We used them again in May 2004 when we moved from our apartment to a condo.
Once again, they were quick, reliable, very easy to book, and handled our belongings carefully.
