Sohaila & Frank are the best stylists anywhere in the city!My husband and I have been going to Sohaila for over 15 years and have followed her through 4 locations. She is amazing, and I wouldn't let anyone else cut my hair- EVER. She knows what works for me & knows what I like. She also know how to prod me to update & modernize my style while staying in my comfort zone. The whole staff is very friendly and very professional. Our appointments feel more like visiting old friends than a business transaction. We love, love, love this salon. In all these many years we have never walked out with anything less than terrific cuts. Never been disappointed and would follow them anywhere ( and we have). more

They do what they want - including and all-over surprise bleach when highlights were requested. Burned scalp and denied doing anything besides shampoo after highlights Argumentative, physically obstructive when trying to leave. more

The older woman who does the shampooing is really \r very pushy.She insist that get the extra oil treatment everytime I'm there. She then proceeds to ask me if I want conditioner in my hair. I told her that every salon conditions after a shampoo. I also had to tell her that I would decide when I needed the extra treatment. I am going to try some other salons because there are quite a few good ones around. I've never encounted any one like this woman before. I get facials and hair removal done with Larisa at Trini. I have been in Larisa's care for the last six years, and she is the best one out there (and I have tried many, many people). \r \r Skincare -- she has helped me with my problem skin -- and she not only does facials, but also peels, masks -- anything you can ask for. She creates a customized approach for every customer.\r \r Hair removal - I get waxed on a regular basis (Larisa does it so that it's quick and painless - and no ingrowns afterwards) and also electrolysis (she is very precise, and the procedure is also painless).\r \r I highly recommend Larisa, and Trini -- they are always helpful and the salon is very clean. Even though Manhattan hair stylists can be expensive, for the price that you pay at this salon, you can find a way more relaxing and all-around superior place to get your hair cut. I chose this place because I was under the impression I was getting a very inexpensive haircut. What is not immediately apparent when you enter the store is that you have to pay an extra $30 for them to blowdry your hair. Yes, what you do in five minutes every morning of your life, they charge you $30 for. Just be aware of this when you think you are going there for a bargain. They are really getting a bargain out of the customer who assumes that drying there hair in the middle of winter is common courtesy. I came here based on the reviews I saw prior to mine (back in Sept.) and thought, why not give it a try. I moved here from NJ so I'm constantly on the hunt for an affordable stylist. Well...book your appt. with Sohaila, she was incredible. I was going from shoulder length to a bob and was very vague about the shape but totally let her drive her instinct on what would suite me best and she nailed it. I walked out with the biggest grin on my face and swore I grew 4 inches. My hair was light and fluffy and I couldn't wait to go back for the nice head massage and blowout I got. The cut was $70 so a little more than I would've liked but I'm willing to cough it up knowing I'll feel so good when i leave. I went in for hi-lites with Lauren and the outcome is positively the worst color I've ever had. I was very specific about wanting to avoid brassiness on my blond but what I got was brassiness all over. Also, it looks as if the hi-lites were done over a month ago because they were not placed close to the root which was another thing I was specific about with Lauren. I was at the salon for hours because an entire section at the crown of my head had no hi-lites and had to be done after the hair was dried. \r I tried to call Lauren about fixing the color but she was not in & I did not get a return call. It's probably for the best because she would probably make it even worse. The $180 + 20% is the worst money I ever spent. Hey Trini manager, I want my money back so it can go towards the expensive color correction I now need.\r My advice is, AVOID THIS HAIR SALON. Cons: You leave Trini with horrible looking hair. more

I've been going to Sohaila for about 9 years now and she always makes me look like a rock star, which by the way is not getting any easier. I haven't found anyone who knows how to cut ultra straight hair like she can. I highly recommend! more

I just had another great hair cut from Sohaila at Trini in Private. I have been going to Sohaila for years and she always exceeds my expectations. Their new location on 6th Ave is in a perfect spot for me as it is right by both the Path and 1&9 subway stops.\r \r Sheena and the rest of the Trini staff are very friendly and always make me feel welcomed. They are also extremely knowledgeable. They have recently recommended Kerastase Resistance Shampoo and Conditioner. Trini is a gorgeous salon with a tremendously talented staff. I followed my colorist Marinette to Trini when she moved there about 6 months ago. I would have literally followed her to the ends of the earth because of her amazing ability. I have lived in NYC for 9 years and have had my hair colored at over 15 salons before I found Marinette. In my opinion her highlights are the best I have ever seen in Manhattan on anyone. Thanks to her great work I get compliments on my hair all of the time from friends and strangers alike. Oh, and now my best friend goes to Marinette too!\r \r When I first moved to Trini I was hesitant to see who would be cutting my hair. Remember I went for the color but I had no idea what I was in store for cut wise. I was thrilled to learn that Sohlia (the salon's owner) is a master stylist. She listens to her customers and makes great suggestions. Sohila takes her time and the results are fantastic!\r \r This past summer, when I was out East with my new haircut and color, I was approached by a celebrity stylist who wanted to know where I got my hair done. HE LOVED THE CUT and COLOR!!! I went here once and found a stylist and colorist I liked. Six weeks later, I called and made another appointment. When I arrived at the scheduled time, I was told that my stylist had just left - was not feeling well. I didn't have the time to reschedule and got a bad haircut from a different stylist.\r Six weeks later, I make another appointment with my favorite stylist. trini in private is in a convenient location for me but that isn't why I get my hair cut and colored there. I do so because I've always been happy with the end result. Sohaila was recommended to me by a friend some years ago and I haven't strayed from her talented hands since. \r \r Sohaila is in charge at trini (she better be, she owns the business) and operates a tight ship. With her sweet, charming manner she sees that everything is kept clean and neat and insures that all clients are comfortable and well taken care of. She's very friendly , with a subtle shy streak that masks a playful sense of humor. The atmosphere and staff take on her pleasant aura and the place always feels comfortable and relaxed.\r Management isn't Sohaila's only strengh. She's a super hair stylist. She will listen to your preferences and desires and try to cooperate fully. Not wihout her own ideas, she may suggest a styling trick to enhance your appearence but will never try to bully you into agreeing to anything you're uncomfortable with. My confidence level in her has grown to the point that I no longer request anything but simply put myself in her hands. The result is always beautiful. An added benefit is that I receive compliments not only from friends and family, but, from total strangers, too!\r Lauren, the colorist, is a sweet young woman one might suspect not old enough to have sufficient experience at her trade. This impression isn't valid; her color and highlight results rival those of an aged master. Seriously, this place is great. All of the stylists and staff are extremely talented and friendly. The salon is clean, stylish, and comfortable. Sohaila is the best. I used to go to her at a place in Gramercy and followed her to Trini which is even better. She is incredibly sweet and great with men and women's hair. Trust me, I have really difficult hair, wavy and it grows out fast, and Sohalia is the only hairdresser I've seen who knows what to do with it. I also could never find a hair gel I liked. Sohalia recommended Kerastase which they carry there and it's great. I recommend Sohalia to all my friends, male and female. I have not been to a hairdressers for over 2 yrs because of a bad experience, so i was very nervous about my appointment at Trini in Private last week. \r I shouldn't have worried. I was greeted by a very nice and smiley member of staff and was looked after from then on. \r I was lucky to have Sohaila the salon manager cut my hair and I'm very happy with it. \r The salon atmosphere is very relaxed, with a mix of different aged clients. \r I will be returning to Trini in Private very soon. \r No more hairdresser fears for me! The Trini in Private French Style Salon ? I just don?t know where to begin!\r \r My husband bought me a consultation and hair cut two weeks ago. It was such a fantastic gift and I really had no idea he?d got me it - I cried buckets. I was really excited about the appointment and rang to book it fairly quickly. I was quite intimidated by making the call but the receptionist was lovely and very chatty.\r \r The day came and I drove over, I?m very lucky as I only live about 20 minutes from the salon and I arrived about 20 minutes early. I was shown up to the manager herself ? dressed head to toe in black and with a beany hat. We chatted about hair and how some of the big stars look with their choice of cut. She also asked how I?d happened to have and appointment.\r \r I was taken back to have my hair washed and got a chance to have a look at the rest of the salon ? very nice it looked too. Have you ever noticed how many hairdressers are beautiful people? The salon is decorated with minimalistic art deco style - very hip and state-of-the-art.\r \r My hair looked great but more than that I was walking on air. It was a fabulous experience and I just couldn?t let it go, so as I walked away on cloud nine, I clutched to my bosom a card with my next appointment written on it.\r Would I recommend it?
