Located in the center of downtown New Canaan, Penny Weights is a mecca for teenage girls. Need a gift for a Sweet 16 Birthday or a bat mitzvah? This is the place to go. Young girls (and their Moms) swarm all over this place.
The store is staffed with attractive high school-aged sales clerks who are adept at finding the right piece of jewelry and the intricate process of wrapping it in smart, tiny little boxes with twirled ribbons.
The jewelry is incredibly inexpensive (especially when you consider the high cost of everything else in New Canaan) and lovely. I’ve also seen customers buying multiple gifts for teachers, camp counselors, baby sitters, etc.
