Our experience at CHOA/Scottish Rite was also horrible. We checked in on a Tuesday morning and were released on Wednesday afternoon. The following morning I received a VOICEMAIL from the doctor telling me that my 19 month old daughter had to be readmitted to the hospital due to the fact that she had a germ growing in her blood and she had a blood infection. She had not had a fever or been acting like she felt bad, but the doctor insisted that this was the case. I was scared to death- I thought my daughter might have a staph infection which I knew was deadly. We readmitted her, more blood was taken and the next day were told that we could be released-- she actually was not sick-- the original blood sample (did I mention that they actually LOST the first blood sample in the lab?) was contaminated- either in the lab or by the nurse who took the sample-- so we were free to go home. The kicker? They are making me pay for this stay in the hospital-- seriously--- they are at fault and will not admit it-- they put drugs in my baby's body that she did not need-- stressed me out, I had to miss two days of work, my parents came in from out of town.... and she was NEVER sick-- and they want me to pay for it. Absolutely ridiculous. I will NEVER take my child there again and plan to share this story with every person, every parent, every one who will listen....
