If it wasn't for the high cost of flying into John Wayne Airport, this airport would be perfect. LAX is much larger and somewhat cheaper but is often crowded and hectic all hours of the day. One thing that isn't great about this airport is that it is only open until 11pm because of the no fly rule in Orange County. For those flying into John Wayne after 11pm (where a flight is delayed), you'll have the option of flying to LAX and shuttled to John Wayne for free.
For those flying into John Wayne Airport who don't live in SoCal, renting a car is no problem at John Wayne Airport. You have a choice of Alamo, National, Budget, and more!
