Businiess name:  Go Wasabi Sushi
Review by:  Harry H.
Review content:
The first time we went to Go Wasabi, we were ecstatic; a real Sushi place, right around the corner from our apartment in Astoria - and it was great! The sushi was well selected and melted in your mouth. The gregarious owner, Alex, was making the rounds of all the tables and chatted us up at the bar as well. So, of course, we went back and were inevitably disappointed. Since our first visit, the sushi has run the gamut from OK to definitely not OK, and has never again risen to the level of that first night. The fish is frequently small and unappetizing. The service is odd, too. Aggressively friendly at first, now it is just rushed and on more than one occasion we have gotten our sushi dinner almost at the same time as our appetizer/soup or salad (also, two of the last three times we have been there, the waitress has forgotten to charge us for our alcohol . . . make of this what you will). They do have live music on the weekends, which is cool - other times there is a very large, flat-screen monitor hovering over the dining room. The overall quality of the food at Go Wasabi is certainly not bad - I've had much worse - but also certainly not worth going out of your way for. It is popular, though, and always well populated. I guess some people don't want to make the walk up to JJ's Fusion at 31st Ave and 37th St., but that what we do, and that's what I recommend. (Incidentally, I have not been the Go Wasabi at Ditmars and 31st St, so I can't comment specifically on that restaurant, but they have the same owner)
