I had never heard of Elevation Burger until I was invited by some business acquaintances for an impromptu lunch meeting. The people who waited on me were very nice and did everything they could to provide good service. I have to say they have some of the best service in the Arboretum that I have experienced. This is where my experience stopped being positive. They have no combination prices, so you're up to roughly $10 for a burger, fries, and a drink. They charge you for everything additional, including the nasty, oily, flavorless cheese (being an environmental place, I question if it indeed was cheese). They also don't have regular iced tea, only fruity stuff which tastes like shampoo...a serious no-no in Austin, where you can get plain iced tea ANYWHERE.
Aside from this, the burger was lean, to the point of turning into a crumbly mess which was difficult to eat without messing up a $50 shirt. It's called needing a binding agent (to keep the meat from falling apart into dusty crumbles) if you're going to use ultra-lean beef...not a bad idea, just terribly executed. The fries were only half cooked & floppy, not crisp. Everyone knows you have to cook fries twice to get the crispy effect...at least I thought that everyone did.
With Five Guys and Mighty Fine providing a better quality (and better portions) burger for less money (they also fresh grind their meat daily), I don't see how this place can hope to stay in business...except for perhaps if the environmentalist rubes just decide to keep shelling out too much money for poor quality food to somehow feel more enlightened and obtain environmental absolution by spending too much money.
Oh, and the "organic beef" tastes the same as the regular 90-92% lean ground beef you get in the store. Not even a grass-fed taste which might make it a little gamier or more flavorful.
They should think of some other kind of angle, such as a buffalo burger or something else which would impart something unique to the otherwise blunder of an experience. They also need to learn how to cook fries. Nothing is less appetizing than half cooked, limp fries, as they'e much more oily and it defeats the purpose of the lower fat burger patty.
