I bought a groupon last week and used it Saturday for what I hoped to be a great dinner with my boyfriend. The atmosphere was nice; the dark woods and pleasant seating hostess made an excellent first impression.
Unfortunately this is where the pleasantries ended. The waiter was unfriendly and moped around as if he were forced to work there as a punishment. The calamari we ordered as an appetizer looked fabulous but tasted like nothing but the grease it was fried in. Still with hope in our minds we dove into our entrees. My boyfriend ordered the New York strip steak, whereas I ordered stuffed Chilean Sea bass and pasta. The steak which was ordered medium was served rare and the one bite I had proved that it was one of the toughest cuts of meat I have ever had. My sea bass and pasta were served in a deep plate, which must have been the only way to accommodate the half inch or more of pure butter my food was soaking in.
To say we were disappointed in the service and food we received would be a gross understatement. And to top it off our request to have the calamari removed from the check(we each had about 2 pieces) was refused.
Even with our Groupon covering $50 of the $106 check I was disgusted when signing for the meal and ultimately felt as if I had been robbed, not only of my hard earned money but also of what was supposed ot be an amazing dinner.
Thank you for nothing 21 Central Steakhouse.
