It wasn't me, but my mom, for mother's day (today, May 9th, 2010). I paid by phone with gratuities. Was that a mistake? Should I have given my mom money or just tell her to tip herself? My mom had massages before, most recently at Oasis. She said that the woman there was big boned (meaning, I guess, was strong though not overly so), friendly and clearly enjoyed her job. Brooke, at Just Calm Down, was not any of those. First, let me say that conversation is not a dealbreaker. But you know how someone gives you a half-hearted massage at 11am (the first appointment of the day), the place just doesn't have high standards. Any one of her family members could've given her a better one, she came back and told me. Brooke was so sloooooow, that she didn't even cover my mom's entire body. She thinks that Brooke only went through 60% of the routine. She only got to massage one of her feet! When my mom asked her to do the other, she picked up both at the same time and squeezed her big toe! What is that?!?! And why would the receptionist ask which parts of the body to focus on, if she wasn't going to take the info and use it? My mom wanted shoulders and lower back... she got some shoulders but no lower back. Brooke seemed inexperienced, or not used to using strength as my mom felt her trembling from exertion... weird... I called Tara, (the boss?!?) who I'm not sure heard my complaints as she was inundated with calls (b/c of mother's day) and she said she would call me back and then hung up. That's rich, as she did not take my name or phone number. I wish I did not tip her the 20% that was suggested by Tara when I first made the call. I read all the great reviews from Google but I guess we were just the unlucky ones... I wouldn't tell people not to come as other people have had better luck... but jeez, make sure you ask for someone with years of experience first. What a waste of my hard earned money! Pros: Nice big place, comfortable waiting room, discount Cons: The woman mentioned above was inexperienced and half-hearted
