Businiess name:  Dr. Robert F. Cannis
Review by:  Rebecca L.
Review content:
All of my life I have been deathly afraid of dentists - I actually have a phobia of them. It started with a bad, traumatic experience as a child and I stopped cold turkey going to dentists. No checkups, no xrays, nothing. But then the inevitable happened - I encountered a problem with one of my molars. I didn't have a choice but to visit a dentist. I searched around for someone to help me with my phobia, but no one in my area was able to help sadly. I was referred to Dr. Cannis in the fall of 2003 by my sister who had been using him for many years. Dr. Cannis explained what needed work, how he would go about performing the work from step 1 to final step. He was able to have me completely relaxed with a combination of "laughing gas" and medication. He was finally able to help me through my phobia. While the phobia is not now, nor ever will be, "gone" - Dr. Cannis provided me with the most professional dental services I've ever had. I left his office feeling better and more relaxed each time simply because of his nature and sensitivity to my fears. He would not work on me until I was completely comfortable with the procedure he was going to perform. His assistants were outstanding as well - always offering comforting advice and a hand to squeeze when my anxiety jumped up. I can't say that I love going to the dentist nowadays, but I will admit that I don't fight it anymore. I know and trust that I am in good hands with Dr. Cannis. Appointments were usually accomodating, though the office being closed on weekends is hard. As with any dentist, costs are moderately expensive, but for the work that Dr. Cannis does and the comfort he provides - I'll pay him any price. The office does offer payment plans.
