Review content:
We had a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience with Howard Cooper Honda when trying to buy a new Accord. My partner had carefully negotiated a deal over a week based on the cash for clunker program. We called the evening before to make sure that Howard Cooper was still participating in the program. We were assured by the sales representative that they were. We arrived shortly after they opened the following day. Half way through reviewing the details of the agreed sale, the representative casually stated that they were no longer participating in the clunker program. I explained that we had already reached an agreement and were specifically assured the evening before that the deal was still valid. I practice contract law and know when an agent binds his principal. The rep repeatedly stated the manager would not budge regardless of what understanding we had made before. I asked to speak to the manager and was repeatedly refused. After insisting, we finally saw the manager who was curt, rude and unprofessional. He seemed entirely "put upon" to actually have to deal with a customer. After explaining our position for less than a few minutes, he simply stated that he did not care what his sales reps had said and that they had no authority to bind him or change dealer policy - a position that is questionable at best in general, and on these facts is simply wrong. After that he announced that "we could leave his office now." I was shocked. We were being polite but persistent and focusing on the specific statements of what we had been told over the past week. He stated again that "we could leave his office now." We did leave and we will not be going back. We had previously purchased an Accord from Howard Cooper and done all of our servicing there. We drove directly to Fischer Honda in Ypsilanti. They immediately honored the price quote and terms that we had negotiated at Howard Cooper. They processed our cash for clunker claim. Within 90 minutes we had bought our new car in a pleasant environ
