My mother in law has been in town for the past week and her one request while she was here was to go somewhere and try some "authentic" Texas barbeque. We have tried out a few barbeque places since we moved here, but there weren't any that we really felt we could quality as authentic. The one that we had enjoyed the most closed down recently, so it wasn't even an option.
We had heard about The County Line from both family and friends. I grew up going to The State Line restaurant in El Paso, TX and when I heard that The County Line is owned by the same company, I thought it was worth a try. It is located on Cutten Road about one mile of of Hwy 1960 and you can visit their website to view the menu and get directions at http://www.countyline.com
We arrived during an "off" time (shortly before 5), and so it was not very crowded and we were promptly seated. Essentially, you can choose from smoked ham, sausage, chicken, smoked turkey breast, beef ribs, baby back ribs, and beef brisket in a platter, combination plate, sandwich, or "all you can eat." The platters come with homemade potato salad, cole slaw, and beans. They also bring honey wheat bread to your table, and the homemade white bread is also worth trying. The food was amazing, the portions were generous, and we were not disappointed. We all took home leftovers.
The prices are reasonable and range from $5.99-$7.99 for the sandwiches, $7.99 (for the "lite" platter) to $18.99 (for the rib platter), and $16.99-$26.99 for the all you can eat combinations.
If you're looking for great Texas BBQ, this is the place to try! If you have an Entertainment book, you can save a little extra money and show your card for a "buy one meal, get one free" offer. Kids also eat free on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
