Review content:
I have been looking for a place to review this establishment, and looks like this is the best one.
Let me start by saying i LIVE in Chinatown, so I have the pleasure of about 30 eateries of various Asian cusines within 3 blocks of my condo. Overwhelmingly I will return to this busy and efficient little gem.
SG is a rare mix of efficiency and good food. Now, I will say that my friends and I look forward to outings to SG with a mix of glee and gluttony that breeds a fair amount of guilt post consumption. The amount of food that my 95 pound little friend consumes in one sitting there is remarkable.
We order the same thing almost every time:
*Sauteed Pea Vines (which sound odd, but my goodness they are deeeeellllicious!)
*Salt and Pepper Scallops (double order)
*Hand Shaved Noodles (you have a choice between *Barley Green or traditional White; we always order white) with Chicken or shrimp. These are little pieces of heaven.
*Crispy Orange Beef (watch out for the little peppars mixed in!)
If you have more than 6 people its a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation.
They move quickly there, food comes out as it is made, and hardly ever all at once. Its remarkable how fast they get it to you even on busy nights.
The staff is friendly but very efficient so they dont stand around and chat.
It is always crowded.
I have seen celebrities, sports stars, newscasters and locals eating right next to neighborhood regulars and the staff opts to coook and eat a group meal around 9:00 p.m. or later and they eat the same things that we order, so they must be pretty good!
The menu is HUGE! I am always trying to add a couple people to our group so they will try something new without my having to give up my basic faves.
Over all its fantastic. Its my midweek pick me up, special occasion, I am ravenous, just because or too lazy to cook stand by.
I tip well here. a triple order of everything for 8 people with 2 rounds of beer and rice came to about $190.00, so its not a "cheap eats" place, but the portions are very generous and each plate can easily feed 2-3 people if your not pigs like myself and my gang. =)
