Review content:
LA Gym is the best of the home-gym equipment stores in Los Angeles. I bought a very good Schwinn semi-recumbent stationary exercise bike from them around five years ago which is still going strong. They had a good sale going on at the time which saved me around $75. Then a couple of months ago, I decided to look for a rowing machine. I didn't think this was any bigger deal than getting a bike or elliptical or treadmill. But it turns out rowing machines are not big sellers (though they provide one of the best, non-impact, total-body aerobic calorie-burning workouts you can get, swimming being the only other one in its league). Store after stone had no rowing machines or one model, leaning against the wall in the corner. The salespeople knew nothing about it. I did a bunch of research on the web on the different types of rowing machines (piston (around$300), air-resistance (around $500 and up), water-resistance (around $1,000)), then fortuitously saw an ad for a floor sale at LA Gym Equipment, where I hadn't had a chance to stop by yet. I went over there, and they had all three different types of rower. I tried them all out and though I had come intending to start with the inexpensive piston-type machine, I quickly discerned that the action wasn't smooth, and the Waterrower, though far more expensive, was well worth it and would last forever and had the warranty to back it up. The salesman who helped me actually knew the key differences between all three machines, and without trying to push me to spend more money, made a logical case for why the Waterrower was the way to go. The piston machine just wasn't going to hold up to serious use, and the action of the wind machine was not as smooth as the water machine. He knew all about the warranty and construction of the water machine, even different models of it they could order for me it I wanted. Ultimately I found out everything was on sale, and for so little more than the floor models that I ended up buying a new-in-box rower. I saved almost $150 dollars off the retail price. I am a very satisfied customer and would recommend anyone in the market for an exercise machine, home gym, free weights, etc. to check out LA Gym Equipment. www.lagym.com
