Valleyfair is a great place for family fun, we go every year. They have a big picnic area right outside of the amusement park entrance w/many picnic tables, so bring your own food and save some money. If you have paid once, you don't need to pay again as long as you have your hand stamped so this becomes very convenient. Even though this amusement park is not as big as Six Flags in Chicago, it has many exhilirating roller coasters and kiddie rides. Be aware that the main roller coaster called the "Wild Thing" had major technical problems this summer - while people were on the ride one of the "ride" suddenly stopped and injured some people (for the full story go to www.startribune.com). There are a couple of water rides inside of the amusement park that does not cost an extra fee. There are probably a total of 5 water rides which I think is not enough! They also have mini car racing which is inside of the park but you do have to pay an extra fee. What I don't like about Valleyfair is the high cost of admission, approximately $24 per adult and children/seniors are less; kids under a certain age/height are free. My tip would be to purchase tickets in April/May/June at our local grocery store (Cub Foods & Rainbow Foods) for some discounts. Parking is about $5 per car so carpooling would be a great choice but there is plenty of parking for everyone!! One last thing - great staff! I have never experienced any rudeness with my 5 years of attending.
