Dr. Joan is terrific. Her office is quietly comforting and inviting and her dog, Remy, is there to provide a bit of canine companionship should you so desire while you have your teeth worked on.
Those who are used to having a dentist take a quick peek and then leave the cleaning to a hygienist will be surprised - Dr. Randish does all her own cleaning, leaving only the polishing and flossing to her assistants. She has state of the art digital x-ray capabilities and also stays up on the latest cosmetic dentistry procedures for those who want whitening and other services.
I like that Dr. Joan recommends what she believes will work best and is open to discussion about what you feel you need. I do usually end up going the more expensive route when it comes to standard dental care (I have yet to avail myself of her strictly cosmetic services though her work there looks great too), but only because I've learned enough along the way to see that it really is the best way. I have never felt pushed into unnecessary work.
Dr. Joan makes even the most difficult dental work as comfortable as possible - she's willing to numb that extra bit to ensure you're not uncomfortable and also has VR glasses for watching movies if you need them. It's comforting to know that the extra care she takes can help prevent more serious issues later on too.
Even so, I have sometimes hesitated to have work done just because I know it's not something I'll exactly enjoy - it's then that she'll gently get an appointment going for you, knowing it's time and you need it. It's tough to call that being pushy when you can sense she's waited until you're also sure it's time.
Dr. Joan also works well with kids too and has a great list of referrals for those who need other types of dental services beyond what she can provide herself.
