Review content:
The local grocery store is certainly a dying breed. When facing competition from national chains such as Meijer, Kroger and Walmart it can be difficult to complete. For this reason, I try to shop at L&L whenever possible, because I find it to be a much more service-oriented shopping experience. The people at L&L are friendly and helpful and there always seems to be someone around if you’re having trouble finding something. The store on Cedar Street in Holt is open 24 hours, which makes it a delightful alternative to the Meijer store up the road. I find their meat, deli and seafood counters to be much higher quality than either Meijer or Kroger. They even have bag boys and girls on staff to help carry your groceries out to the car. Try getting that at one of the big chain stores. Of course, all this service does come at a price. Prices tend to be a bit higher at L&L than some of the larger national chains. However, I think it’s a small price to pay for a pleasant shopping experience.
