Review content:
Two of the sous-chefs from Nobu in the NYC branched out on their own and opened this restaurant just one year ago. It's been a hit from the very start. They take sushi to a whole new level, combining the freshest seasonal seafood and ingredients (many flown in directly from Japan) with non-traditional sauces, toppings, and sides. In my opinion the best way to appreciate this place is to sit at the sushi bar (only eight seats) and order the "Omikase Sushi Bar". Until you cry 'uncle' the sushi chefs (which includes one of the owners) will lean over the bar every few minutes and place a single serving of one of their vast selection on your plate. Each time you will swear you have just found your favorite, just to have to contradict yourself with the next one. You will drop $100 per head here, but it's probably a third of what you would pay at Nobu, and arguably even better. Like most of Montclair it's BYOB. Update to my own review- just went again last Saturday. We managed to eat for three hours. God this place is good!
