I called Walt's on 6th Ave in Tacoma and spoke to the manager Kris Blough about a free brake inspection and to get a quote on brake repair. He told me to drop it off and he would get me a quote on the brakes. The vehicle was dropped off on 5/6/13 for the free inspection. I received a call on 5/7/13 and was quoted $3700 for repairs!!! When I asked for clarification, I was told that it was unsafe if these items were not fixed. I asked the manager if he was sure that all the brakes, rotors, hoses, and axle seals needed to be replaced and he said he would go check. He called back and said that they recommended that it all should be done, however he could do the job for $1900 if he left some things off the job. I told him that I thought he was being deceptive and I wanted to take my vehicle elsewhere. He started raising his voice and explaining that he was not going to let me waste his time and that he could only ""fit my vehicle in when he wasn't busy to put the wheels back on it"" I drove down there to see how busy they were and there was not ANY vehicles being worked on at the time. Just my vehicle sitting on jackstands with the wheels next to it. On 5/9/13 I received a call to pick up my vehicle. When I walked in to grab my keys, I was presented with a $145 bill!! for my FREE inspection. When I said I just wanted my keys back and leave, he walked around the counter and stood very intimidatingly right in front of my face and was using profanity and yelling that if I don't pay him, I would not get my keys back. He also said go ahead and call the cops, this has happened before and the cops won't do anything about a private matter. I just want my money back that I paid for my FREE brake inspection. There are plenty of good people looking for work, They need to get rid of this clown Kris, who claims to be a manager. He needs to go back to customer service school. I will tell everyone I know to stay FAR away from this place!!!!! I wish you could give negative stars for a review.
