Review content:
For those bad reviews about this place, Lonestar Riverboat, I have read that people are very upset that they didn't get to go on the big paddlewheeler boat on a batwatching cruise, well actually if you go to the website and read through it and take the time to read it our website clearly states that the Little Star and the Southern Star(both pontoon boats) are our boats that we take out on our batwatching cruises. Both pontoon boats are plenty big enough and there are several reasons why we take these boats....#1 is because you can see the bats alot better because the pontoon boats have open tops and you can't really see the bats as good in the big paddlewheel boat and this is a pretty important reason why...#2 is because it is very expensive to run the big paddlewheel boat and it takes a crew of at least 2 people to take the boat and with paying 2 people that would drive the cost of admission up by having to pay a crew of 2 people......#3 is that the big paddlewheel boat only hold 80 people so on nights when we have 100 people with reservations for the bat cruise some people would get left out.........#4 last and final reason is that on most nights the big paddlewheel boat is out on a private chartered cruise from 7:30-9:30 mainly so this would make it impossible to take the big boat out on batwatching cruises. I hope this helped some people ease their mind about making a decision to come see us because we really are nice people and also I was reading a review that the big paddlewheel boat is a piece of junk....well it is a 1972 model homemade boat and I think it is in great shape for being that old and it IS an AUTHENTIC PADDLEWHEELER, one of the last left in Texas, and just FYI the new boat is on order and will be here hopefully by July 15, 2008. For those of you that took the time to read this thank you I am Captain Derek, Captain of the big paddlewheeler boat so come book your private party and have a good time. Pros: very nice friendly staff, ease of facilities, close access to major hotels, free parking at the Austin Chamber Building
