OMG, what a great, great Irish Pub on this super entertainment block of Midtown, right by Macy’s. Beautiful and talkative bar where you never fail to find an enormous mix of people, singles-through-seniors, backed by gorgeous high-definition screens full of sports and — the biggest plus for me — really delicious food. There are a number of different dining environments to choose from: At the bar; near the bar; ‘in the back’; and also a large, quieter room upstairs. The menu is altogether outstanding. Everything I have tried is really good, right from the wings and ‘mini-burgers’ on the bar menu, straight through to the O’Reilly’s specialty burger which really should be in the city’s ‘Best Burgers’ competition: It's that good (be sure you order it ‘rare’, though, even if you usually like ‘medium rare’ — and tell them you want the ‘sweet potato fries’, not the regular fries)...and on to great desserts like a truly outstanding apple pie and a real-cream Strawberry Napoleon. Excellent Cobb salad, Chef salad, and Caesar salads as well. Or if you want to keep it really light go with their simple wedge of lettuce with blue cheese dressing and bacon bits: Low in calories and very satisfying. And they’re generous in the mixed drink department. These people know how to keep me coming back. You will not regret going to O’Reilly’s on 35th. Pros: Great food! Great high-definition sports screens! Cons: Can be crowded but lots of other options on same block.
