Wow, I have only been this disappointed and offended by a stylist once before. I went to salon nuance in lieu of my normal stylist, since he's pretty booked and I really just wanted just a trim. I saw Chris several months earlier, and he did a really fantastic job, so I thought I would get a trim from him. I called and he was completely booked, but Devin was free. I had read good things about her, so I thought since they're a team, she'd be as good. What a terrible and bizarre experience! I asked primarily for thicker cut bangs and a minimal trim/dusting, which Chris and I had talked about doing the next time I came in. I briefly mentioned maybe some extra layers to add some volume, but I'm pretty handy with round brushes, so adding volume wasn't really a priority. She agreed to all of that and was otherwise nice and quite chatty, but I started getting worried when I saw how much hair she was cutting off in the front. I assumed maybe that was just the layers she was adding to the front, which I didn't ask for or want, but figured if she was as good as everyone said, maybe they would look good. Well when the cut was over, not only had she cut off 3 inches all over (definitely not a ""dusting""), thereby obliterating all the growing out I had done over the last several months, but she gave me a blunt cut in place of the long layers she mentioned earlier. Worst of all, she completely ignored my request and didn't bother cutting in any bangs! She in fact gave me the exact opposite of everything I had asked for in the beginning, without bothering to tell me any of this along the way. She then proceeded to tell me that she couldn't have cut any bangs b/c I didn't have enough hair in the front. How utterly offensive, but if there were any truth to it, I would be ok with it. However, she was in the wrong, given her husband had given me perfect bangs when I saw him in November, and I know for a fact nothing has changed between then and now. She then tried to cut in scraps of bangs that looked unpolished and just unattractive, which only made matters worse. She kept saying how she also had a long face and she didn't need bangs, so essentially insinuated that I should be happy with what she had done b/c she was. That's about the time that I took a look at my hair in the mirror, took a look at her hair in the mirror, looked back at my hair... and yes, sure enough, she had given me her own haircut. I wasn't sure whether to burst out laughing, or break down into tears. Well it was almost the latter. I was livid and nearly leapt out of the chair. I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, but to make matters worse, it somehow took nearly 15 minutes for me to pay. What a terrible hour of my life. I went home and styled my hair, to find out some of the ridiculously short layers she had cut in could actually brush forward as the bangs I wanted. Again, what was she thinking?? I just thought it was hilarious that she gave me the bangs she said she couldn't, competely unbeknownst to her. However, I'm not putting myself in a position to accidently get what I want. And I'm still pretty ticked off about how short my hair is, since I really really liked the length I had gotten it to. I'm pretty serious when it comes to my hair. I would say that if you want a great cut, Chris seems to know what he's doing. Devin, I'm definitely not so sure about. Sometimes what happens is that even great stylists get pretty egotistical after they get so many good reviews- that's what happened to my stylist in Boston. Needless to say, I will not be going back and I will not recommend this place to any of my DC friends. I remain incredibly disappointed. Pros: great wash Cons: cavalier stylist
