I have taken my dog and two cats to multiple emergency vets throughout the years (two other vets here in Portland and others while traveling) and this is by far the best experience I have in a long time. I brought my dog in around midnight on a Friday, which meant I waited a bit to speak with the doctor. They did take my Vomi**** dog to the back right away to get pain medication on board as she was very very painful. The doctor came out after an hour to get my permission to run both a blo** and urine tests. Because I was honest about not having a lot of money to spend they were very up front about the cost of the tests and the medication. I found out through the labwork that she has kidney problems, and they would refer me to a specialist who could help manage the issues long term. After about three hours (it seems like a lot of time, but there were so many things happening that the wait was not horrible) I received detailed discharge instructions and medications from the same nurse who took my adorable dog to the back. I was very impressed with the professionalism and compassion of all involved on such a busy night/morning and I will take my pets to Dove Lewis for future emergencies. They are no longer at this address though, they are across the street at 1945 NW Pettygrove. Also, bring your laptop, they have free internet and that would have made my visit even better if I could have done some work...
Pros: Well staffed, compassionate, good smelling
