I'm from Cookeville. I was recently riding in Chatt. on a Sat.. Local riders said to go here and it would open at 11:00am. The owner lady, Shirley, opened late at 12:45pm, which I was told was usual practice for her. The only time we didnt have to nearly beg for a beer was the first ones. She was too busy eating a bowl of ice cream and constantly talking on a cell phone while walking around in a kitchen area. There was no other employees working there. Other patrons, Im assuming regular customers, were actually coming in and getting their own drinks from behind the bar because she didnt or wouldnt come from the kitchen area or get off a cell phone. A female patron actually got us beers because our bottles were empty as usual. This Shirley was on the phone the entire time we were there, over an hour. We were introduced to Shirley's husband, Bill, who had just came in. We figured since he was there, we would get waited on more promptly as she was still in the kitchen on the phone. Oh, and she was not cooking. This Bill sat at the end of the bar and didnt move except to drink beer. I had a very brief conversation with him and then overheard other conversations he was involved in. Im afraid that my first impression of him wasnt good. He was in a discussion with a couple guys at the bar. I thought that this Bill was, after listening to him, to be very arrogant and condecending. He sat at the end of the bar, drinking his beer, never offering to get us anything to drink. The patrons who we briefly met were very nice people. The condition of this place was shameful. The exterior was actually falling apart. Old flower boxes under the windows were literally falling down. The inside was dirty, and extremely cluttered. Junk was everywhere. The floors were dirty. It was like everything in there was broken or patched up just to get by. We went to a place called Rumors and got prompt friendly service. Patrons there laughed and said this was typical for the Rusty Duck. Pros: easy to find Cons: construction along the rode
