My girlfriend and I went to L&W on a slow rainy Sunday night for some beer/appetizers & to watch some football.... We ordered the fried dill pickles, which were horribly salty and no dill pickle flavor at all, just salty batter. Then we got the veggie fondue, which was served flaming at tableside (impressive). However, after the flames were out, the fondue was a melted clump of disgusting and globby cheese. I absolutely love any and all cheese, but this was horrible and un-edible! Upon complaining, our server YELLED across the bar area to the manager, telling us the manager had to come see it with his own eyes before it could be taken off our bill. The manager preceeded to tell us it ""wasn't supposed to look like that"" and the kitchen used too much Everclear to make the flame, which ruined the consistency of the cheese. He then went on to say that he was an owner and that they wouldn't still be in business after 10 yrs, if their food was bad...and added that usually the fondue is pretty popular. Frankly, I didn't want to hear excuses...just an apology, which came very late and with a chip on his shoulder. I was actually nautious from the food, but we decided to hang out and continue watching football...that was until however, the bar ridicule session.... There was a guy sitting at the bartop, having a drink. He apparently worked in the kitchen and had just gotten off work. The manager comes walking up to the guy cussing him loudly, and blaming him and the rest of the kitchen staff for something about tomotoes not being swept off the floor. The manager is screaming ""I'm f'ng sick of this s#it!"" at the guy and another kitchen staff member that had come out for the confrontation. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING! How unprofessional can you be to have a yelling match at your staff at the bartop in front of other customers? My friend and I quickly told our server we were uncomfortable and wanted to leave immediately. I inquired about the manager and was told he lied to us, that L&W was NOT in fact his place as we'd been told prior when complaining of the fondue, but rather this manager's brother was the owner. Well, I wonder what his brother would think?! I have never in my life, felt the so uncomfortable that I had to flee a restaurant and felt so empathetic towards a staff for having to work under such a unprofessional hothead. Pros: parking, location, TVs in bar area, live music, menu variety Cons: rude manager, nasty food, no Sun night happy hour
