Review content:
I noticed that trittipo's post on 9/17/05 never had a follow-up. I'm thinking that when they finally called the correct phone number, they got their item back to their satisfaction. Otherwise, they would have come back to rant some more. Or not .-)\r \r I've been a customer at Partita since they opened, and I have never found them to be anything other than knowledegable and courteous. And I have never called without getting the answering machine at the very least.\r \r I have, however, purchased some fine and finely-crafted pieces of jewelry from Partita, both custom and non-custom, and I have always been more than pleased by my purchase (and so has my wife!). They are always willing to clean any item (whether purchased there or not), fix up the scratches on my wedding band or give my automatic watch a quick tune-up. They do this at no cost to me, and they appear genuinely happy to do so. If you spend any time in the retail world, you know that this kind of attention and service is quickly becoming a lost art.\r \r With all that being said, I could not honestly say that they offer ""competitive"" prices for similar items which might be found at larger houses or discount jewelry chains. But it's often difficult to pin down the competing price for an original piece; so, like most artists of much regard, you might end up paying a bit more for Calvin's work. Add to that the increased overhead of their Chestnut St location, and it's a little more understandable that their non-custom prices are prehaps higher-than-average ('though this is just a guess).\r \r If you're penny-pinching on jewelry, you probably won't be shopping here anyway -- nor would I necessarliy recommend it; although you may find some great designs to have created elsewhere. But if you are looking for something extrordinary and you don't mind paying a little more for the quality, then you really should visit Partita. There aren't any other jewelry stores in SF that I can recommend higher. Pros: Great staff, high-quality pieces, (very) non-aggressive sales
