I don't know who gave the solitary rating before me but by giving this den of thieves anything more than 1 star was obviously a serious lapse in judgment. \r \r Maybe they offer free checking but every other service at this bank bites the big one. Free checking is not enough when there is no customer service(I have been hung up on and I have been told I need to talk to the manager about this and that he will call and then never does) and when they chose to process debits faster then CASH deposits! That's right folks, you can walk into a Compass Bank at 9:00am and give them a $1000 in cash for deposit into your account which has $4 till that point and then at 9:00pm that same day you can make a purchase of $5.00 on your debit card. The next day you will have a $36.00 NSF fee because the $5.00 debit will be removed before the $1000 deposit is posted. Was Compass Bank taken advantage of because you made them pay for $1.00 of your purchase? I don't think so; they actually had the money in their bank (earning interest for them) without giving you credit for the deposit on your account. \r \r Steer clear people, better yet tell a friend to steer clear as well. Pros: Free checking Cons: Everyting else, outrageous fees and a three ring circus they substitute for customer service.
