Review content:
I am the mother of 3 daughters. My older 2 daughters started at Dance Concept 17 years ago when they were 4 and 2-1/2 and my youngest is still dancing there. My oldest had gone to another studio the year before we tried Dance Concept that was very good technically but just didn't seem like a lot of fun. I never intended for my children to become professional dancers; I just wanted them to have fun and maybe be more graceful than I was :) \r A friend recommended Dance Concept and it has been a great place for my daughters. Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop are offered at many different levels based on age. The dance classes work on technique but the real benefit is the emphasis on building a love of dance and respecting for your body. The teachers are great role models and really work to enhance self-esteem which is especially critical for teenagers. An opportunity to compete is offered by invitation where there is much more emphasis on perfecting a performance including appearance and technique. Competition requires a financial and time commitment that isn't right for everyone but I think my daughters benefitted enormously from the experience. All 3 of my daughters have been A students and high achievers throughout their academic years, including college. I feel that the discipline they learned from dance flows over into all aspects of their lives. Dance also provided a wonderful outlet for my girls to have fun while getting exercise. My daughters and I have made lifelong friends at Dance Concept and I highly recommend this studio. Pros: Great staff!!! Cons: located near Como area, but very well lighted with security system
