We did our dog's training class here and liked the teacher, so we thought we could trust the hotel. The people that checked us in were distracted and seemed annoyed that we brought a bed and toys for our dog. (I don’t think my dog got the chew toys since the bone was not touched). We asked about play time but were concerned about our smaller dog playing with the larger dogs. We were told there would be two separate play times, with the small dogs in one room and the larger dogs in another. So we payed extra for the playtime. This didn't happen and my dog was taken out of play time and put back in the small kennel because an older/larger dog bit him. I thought the dogs would have a larger area but I got the feeling they threw my dog in a small cage on the top shelf. My dog was about 9 months old at the time and loves to play so I was already concerned about him bothering an older dog. I was not happy that my puppy was punished just because the people at PetSmart didn't tell me the truth. My puppy also took a full day to act normal and seemed very traumatized after the experience. He also smelled like urine. Maybe I should have known better, but I am writing this as a warning so others don't assume this is a great place to leave their pet. If you are considering leaving your pet here, demand you see the back area and the spot where your dog will stay. Also, I would not recommend PetSmart for smaller dogs or higher energy puppies. Even though your dog may be well balanced, it may encounter a grumpier older dog.
