Spa City Comics is a quaint little comic shop where the average comic book reader is likely to find almost anything they?re looking for when it comes to new or back issues. They also have a decent selection of TPBs and a large selection of manga, which is probably the biggest in the Capital District, ironically enough. \r

This store is all about customer service because they offer a great discount of 20% off nearly everything for subscribers. They are also big on making special orders, too. If they don?t have what you?re looking for, they seem willing to get it.\r

NEW COMICS: For such a tiny store, Spa City has a surprisingly large selection of new comics. Naturally, they carry all the titles by all the mainstream publishers and a select few indies. You?re likely to find any new or recent comic here, which is pretty standard for comic shops these days.\r

BACK ISSUES: I have to say I was genuinely impressed with the back issue selection at this store. The majority of their library is made up of Modern Age comics with a few key Bronze Age and older books tacked up on the walls around the store. I found the prices to be totally reasonable and maybe even slightly cheaper than average. Again, for such a small store their selection is quite varied (when it comes to DC and Marvel, that is).\r

DISCOUNT: Spa City Comics is easily the smallest comic book store in the Capital District and yet they have one of the biggest discounts for subscribers - 20% off everything in the store (with some exceptions). I really respect stores that offer a flat discount to subscribers; it makes the shopping experience more streamlined. You already know you?re getting a good deal on your new books, but the fact you get a discount on back issues and trades is like knowing the store is having a sale every time you shop there. If I lived in Saratoga I?d probably subscribe through them.
Pros: Good selection of new and back issues and manga, good prices
Cons: small, cramped store; not as big of a selection as most stores.
