First of all I'd like to start off by saying I'm a very reserved person. I'm not really one to be confrontational but I was motivated by the deeply disturbing behavior the manager displayed to the customers.\r I will never go back in there even though none of this actually happened to me....I was a witness to it.\r \r A couple months ago I watched an older African American couple walk in there. The man was using a walker and he needed assistance using the restroom. The restroom door was locked. His wife asked the manager for a key. The manager replyed saying that she had to buy something first. The lady told the manager that she was going to buy 2 sandwiches but that her husband need to use the restroom urgently. The manager refused and the lady had to wait in line and order her sandwiches before getting the manager to open the door. The whole time the manager was rude, talked down to her and even complained to other customers next to her.\r The latest event happened last week. A woman in front of me and I ordered a sandwich no problem. I sat down to eat my sandwich when a younger guy (college age) came in to order a sandwich. English was not his first language and he had a little trouble trying to say what he wanted. There wasn't anyone else behind him but the manager raised her voice and was rude to him. He would point to what he wanted (in a very nice way) and try to pronounce the word. She cut him off several times in a rude way, asking him to tell her what he wanted. She was so rude to him it made me feel shame for the way she was treating him. I was mortified! The young man kindly paid for his sandwich without responding at all.\r Throughout this whole exchange I was watching. Not because I was nosey but that she had raised her voice that much. I could undersand everything he was asking for all the way accross the room. She wouldn't give him the chance to clarify.\r On the way out the door she stopped me to ask if I had a problem. She saw me watching the transaction and than tried to confront me because I was watching. I explained to her as nicely as possible that I was horrified by the way she treated him because he looked different and that he couldn't speak English as clearly as her. Her response was that she understands English and that that is what he needs to use in order for her to understand him.\r Well....From where I was sitting I thought that he was doing a pretty good job. At least he tried!! I hate to say it...but her actions in both cases seems...well....racist! I'm not a person of color and I've haven't seen situations like this very often before. I guess that you can say that I'm a bit naive. I'm sorry to say that this was a wakeup call for me...\r If you read this...Please avoid going to this Subway. There are thousands of choices including other Subways. I'm hoping that this manager is just a bad apple and that the owner replaces her with someone who who would appreciate the job and treat people with respect. Out of respect of those treated poorly by this person PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS SUBWAY. Cons: Horrible manager/customer service****Please don't go!!
