I walked into safran the other night out of plain curiosity with my girlfriend and was pleasently surprised to find such a good asian restaurant in chelsea. The mood was perfect with the lights being just a little dim, and the varuiations of music playing in the background. The waiters were just outstanding, there was never a moment where i wanted something and had to struggle to find a waiter. They were very friendly, very polite, and very knowledgeable of both the contents and backgrounds of the plates that they served us. The drinks were especially good. As they attained their bar license about a couple of months ago I thought there would have been some mistakes in such a ""rookie"" bar but I was mistaken. The summer rolls that we tried were absolutely delicious, and the entrees were even better. After that came dessert which was good enough to rival certain 5 star restaurants. At the end of the meal the waiter for our table brought the head chef, Laura over for us to meet her. She was absolutely wonderful. I left Safran wivowing to return next week. But this time I am bringing 5 other friends with me because this restaurant is just too good to be kept a secret. Pros: Excellent food, excellent service, good private mood Cons: its chelsea, bad parking
