Businiess name:  Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant

Review content:
This restaurant sucked. My first complaint: the decor and atmosphere. The first thing someone should think when they enter a restaurant is: ""ah, this will be a pleasant dining expierience"" not something along the lines of ""one of my grandparents had a basement that looked something like this."" Second: drinks. At a normal restaurant, waiters walk about and if they spot an empty glass, they offer to get you another. At this establishment, you get a glass of water which they will gladly top off, but if you'd like another can (yes, can) of what you were drinking you need to explicitly ask. Third: service. We ordered our food, and after about 30 minutes, started wondering where our appetizers were. We finally got them, but after less than 5 minutes our food arrived, so we didn't even have time to finish them. What I hated the most is that we were expected to eat all of our food off of a single plate. I was trying to eat this really awful thing called a samosa and when they brought the food out I had to shove it off to the side so they could dump my food from the pan it was cooked in onto my plate. I don't know if bringing the food still noisly sizzling like that was due to laziness or an attempt at theatrics, but either way it was unappetizing. If I wanted bad foreign food dumped onto a dirty plate in a tacky setting, I would have just stayed home and made ramen. And another thing about the service: my friend asked for a glass of milk and it took FIFTEEN MINUTES for them to get it. Finally, we get to the food itself. I had vegetable...what was it called? Tempura? No, that's Japanese. Tampoori? I think that's it. I had vegetable tampoori and it was quite bland, but my friends were raving about their food, so I guess it's alright. After all, they have been rated the best Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh. But would I eat there again? Pros: great variety, apparently good food Cons: poorly timed service, really bad ambience
