Review content:
Steak & Ale has provided us some of the most pleasant, most dependably good restaurant meals we've had in Houston. It's been around a long time, and there's good reason for that. Is it the very best food in Houston? Honest answer, no. But the food is consistently good, reasonably priced, and almost always pleasantly served. The salad bar is good. It's open on Sunday evenings. It's typically not hard to get a table. And you can still have a real conversation -- in your normal voice -- with your table companions in their dining rooms, unlike at the noisier places that seem to have become popular! It's not flashy or glitzy, just dependably good and comfortable, and we find ourselves going back often for exactly that reason.
