My father took all of us kids and our families a couple of weekends ago for a ride on the Hill Country Flyer. Our children range from 18 months to 10 years, and ALL of them had a blast! We rode in the Club cars (no A/C) so we could get that authentic experience. It was so neat being able to get up and walk around and look out of the windows, truly a VERY unique memory that the kids will remember for the rest of their lives. The adults are planning another trip on one of the night rides in the near future. My son is a devoted video game junky, NOT ONCE did he complain about not having any games there to play. That is HUGE for him and it says a lot for the experience. The volunteers were awesome and very willing to give some history lessons about the flyer and steam trains in general. I would totally recommend this as a very unique family experience. I think my Dad is STILL smiling! Pros: A very unique experience! Cons: Pricey- but fun :)
