I ordered a bridesmaid dress in a size 12 despite Kathy's suggesting I order a 14 according to my measurements and manufacturer?s size chart; however, the 12 sample fit me perfectly. So in order to avoid unnecessary alteration costs, I requested a size 12 which fit in the store. Months later, I received the dress labeled size 12 which was HUMUNGOUS! To make sure it wasn't my body that changed, I went to the store and tried on the sample size 12 (which fit perfectly again, possible even a bit snug) and then tried on MY size 12 which was so large it was falling off of me. Kathy herself refused to explain or account for the size discrepancy and even suggested the problem was that I should have ordered a size 14 according to my measurements, which was the most illogical suggestion I've ever heard since I was standing there in a 12 that was too large! She claimed it was solely the manufacturer's fault and failed to see her role of responsibility as the party who sold the defective dress to me. Since it was obvious I ordered a size 12 and received a size 14 labeled as a size 12, I asked Kathy how she would handle this in order to avoid me paying for someone else?s mistake and having to pay alterations fees to make the dress a size 12, as I ordered. She told me to take it or leave it and said she would not pay for anything and admitted no responsibility. I found the fact that you can only pay for alterations in cash, yet dresses in all forms of payment suspect, so I took the dress to a local tailor who charged me 1/3 the cost of what Kathy's charged the other girls in the party for the alterations and my altered dress ended up fitting like a glove after the outside tailor altered it. I received mislabeled merchandise which cost me an unnecessary $30 in alterations and was VERY RUDELY treated by Kathy herself throughout my entire experience, including her hanging up on me on one occasion and claiming to my face later that she didn't. Bottom line- I found deficient business ethics, products, and customer service during my experience at Kathy's Bridal. My suggestion-go to Gerri's Bridal in Pittston, they carry many of the same exact dresses and brands at great prices and are customer friendly and very personable. BUYER BEWARE!
