Businiess name:  Three Cedars Waldorf School
Review by:  Chris D.
Review content:
This is a "Waldorf school". It is not for everyone. For example, there are no computers here. If you are very concerned with your child's academic achievements in elementary school, this one is not for you. The curriculum is very well balanced. This is not just maths and reading but also arts, story telling, handwork, movement, foreign languages. And it's also all well integrated. For example, the children do handwork in the Japanese class, or learn the multiplication tables while juggling with bean bags. This is one of the most impressive things about the school: children learn through all their senses, at their own pace. This is a school that does not try to fill the children's minds with knowledge, but to allow the children to find in themselves the joy of learning without external pressure or competition. Looking at my own children's experience, it works. A few years ago, they were in a high pressure private Montessori school, they hated it. Because of the constant pressure, they were beginning to believe they were "not good" at this and that (maths in particular). We decided to move them to Three Cedars. I could not have expected the profound impact this decision has created in our lives. Two years later, they still love their school and look forward to going to school almost everyday. We don't have to torture them with homework any more, they are already independent and manage it on their own. Three Cedars offers classes from K through 8th grade and are adding a new grade each year. Last, you should be aware that tuition is expensive, as most of the private schools in the area.
