I didn't move to Dallas until the late seventies. About 1980 I ended up living around the corner from the old Goff's on Lovers Lane. I was just a hard-working girl who worked for a record chain. I always wondered back then why I was always treated so rudely when I went in there, and I decided that whatever it was, it wasn't my problem but the owner's problem, and it turns out I was right. I just went to the ""new"" location on Hillcrest for the first time, and as I was going to get my drink, I saw their historic photo on the wall of a sit-in from the '60s after they had been refused service to clientele with only slightly longish-hair. Police were standing with their hands folded, with the owner. At first I thought it was kind of a cool photo until I realized by the caption that the proprietors apparently still thought that was a great thing for them to do, persecute the brave group of people who reminded a country that we had rights under the Contstitution, just because they had long hair, as the caption explained.
Pros: They use charcoal
Cons: Burgers still so-so - owner apparenlty still a jerk
