The equipment and classes in this gym are okay, but from day one I felt like I was getting ripped off. When I first asked about membership, they told me it was $42/month, but when I came back in to sign the paperwork, it said $42.99, which is $43 in my book. But, I figured it was only a dollar, so I went ahead and signed up. Then, I found out I would have to pay $5 extra per month if I wanted to use any other Gold's Gym in the Triangle. They never mentioned that when I asked about membership - told me I could use any Gold's gym around the world. Now, I've moved across town so I wanted to cancel my membership. The contract says I need to give 30 days notice. I called the 1-800 number for Gold's gym and they said I needed to physically go to my home gym to fill out the paperwork to cancel. I drove across town and filled out the paperwork on January 18. The front desk staff told me my membership would end February 18, so I didn't even try to go for most of the month. I ended up getting billed for the whole month of February. I called to complain and was told that the 30 days notice depends on your billing cycle, which could either be on the 1st or 15th of the month. So, effectively, you have to give 6 weeks notice at least. Front desk staff are friendly but give out wrong information. I gave them 2 stars because the classes are good and the location used to be convenient for me.
